This is always one of my favorite posts to work on. As much as I wish I could be one of the uber-fashionable gals attending show after show at Lincoln Center, my life just isn’t that fab (I blame it on work and kids but we all know that it’s way more than just that).
Instead I watch from the sidelines (read: the internet) and use the New York Fashion Week outdoor runway, that amazing collection of street style as inspiration for more exciting dressing decisions. This year is no different, I’m once-again in sartorial awe of how these super chic gals make it look so effortless. I certainly won’t be using these for exact replications, not very practical for my every day life (i’m guessing you’re in the same boat) but it’s a great way to get some high-level inspiration.
Here’s a handful of my favorites from Fashion Week (so far). Enjoy!
Admittedly today’s post is less of a style spotting and more of a fun round-up of Forecastle Festival shenanigans. I only made it to the Waterfront on Friday and totally forgot my camera but thanks to some friends & readers, I’ve got a look at some of the good times (and good outfits) that went down this weekend.
If you were at Forecastle and want to add your pics to this round-up, just send ‘em over to me at firstname.lastname@example.org

The problem is there aren’t many places you can wear them in the summer months, at least for me, because most of the outdoor occasions that would warrant one are weddings. And we all know you don’t wear white to weddings (or rehearsal dinners for that matter).
So when I spotted Julie in this simple white lace number at a seriously lovely baby shower she hosted, I had to get her to pose for some pictures. And while I might add a bright, bold necklace – I dig how she kept it simple adding delicate, silver jewelry (side note: how gorgeous is that sapphire ring?) and a tiny pop of color with pink earrings (that of course, matched her nail polish). The whole thing just personifies southern summer for me.
Oh and if you’re in town and just NEED to have this dress, Julie found it at Colonial Designswhich is one of the stores participating in the big summer sidewalk sale this week. Might be marked way down!
