Yay it’s a Giveaway! Adventures of Creativity

So I feel like before jumping into things, I should give you a little update on why I’ve taken a mini-hiatus this week (just in case you had noticed). Earlier this week I got a call that my grandpa wasn’t doing so well, so I packed up my gear and hopped on a plane ASAP. I’ve been in Houston since Tuesday hanging with a guy that’s like another dad to me. Love my Papaw so much so if you’d throw out a prayer for him, I’d be ever so grateful.

I’m sure you’re like, why in the world are you blogging then? Honestly, it’s nice just to have a touch of normalcy as well as something to distract me for a little while.

I’d been wanting to do a giveaway with my friend Taylor for a LONG time but life kind of got away from me. But I think sharing her beautiful and inspirational quotes couldn’t come at a better time. She recently launched her Etsy shop, Adventures of Creativity and it’s full of bright, lovely (lately I’m obsessed with that word) watercolors with inspiring quotes and verses.

She also will do custom pieces and quotes – so just drop her a note if there’s something specific you’d like to see.

Outfit Post + Yay! It’s a Giveaway: Working It with Well-Kept

Monday Monday. After a solid weekend (the perfect mix of low-key and fun), I’m back to work for what is promising to be a hectic week (lots and lots of client events going on). That being said, I’m starting things over here off with a bit of a bang with a nice little giveaway for you all from Well-Kept - more on that in a minute.

When I’m looking at a busy day (after what will inevitably be a crazy morning trying to make it out of the house in one piece), I try and stick with a pretty basic uniform: skinny pants + easy, practical and polished top + wedges. This outfit is all of those things with a little twist on my normal get up. The cropped top (certainly no skin showing for me, at least not yet) isn’t something I normally gravitate to since I have a longer than normal torso. So a crop top can throw my proportions all out of whack. The looser, boxier shape of this one though hits at just the right spot and pairs well with the more fitted pants. It’s also the perfect weight for this not quite summer/not quite fall weather. So if you ever see me coming or going from work, you’ll more than likely see me in something like this.

Another thing you’ll see me dragging along is a bag packed to the gills with my work crap. Computer, multiple notebooks, phones (don’t ask me why I have two), my camera (try to keep it with me all the time) and possibly an iPad (that gets used to watch Disney Junior way more than to do actual work). With all those screens and the high likelihood that there is so form of snack debris on the inside of my bag, a pack of Well-Kept wipes comes in crazy handy.

I first got my hands on a pack a year or so ago to try and since then I’ve kept them in my desk drawer for those days when I eat lunch at my desk (yeah I know it’s kind of gross) or I notice some sort of impenetrable gunk on my phone. My poor iPad takes the worst of it and needs to have the jelly wiped off it on a regular basis.

The good folks at Well-Kept want you to enjoy not only a gunk-free screen but also a little shopping spree on them. So scroll all the way down to check out how I’ve teamed up with some of my favorite blogger pals (all my favorites are on board) to give you a chance to win a year’s supply of Well-Kept wipes + a $200 American Express gift card.

Events + Yay It’s a Giveaway: Talking Runway for the Roses with Gunnar Deatherage

The weather may not agree but it’s officially Derby season around here. Leading up to the big race, local gals have the chance to check out the latest fashion at a number of local fashion events. One of the most anticipated is NFocus Magazine’s Runway for the Roses.

The event is a stand-out based on the unique perspective of the magazine’s Creative Director Gunnar Deatherage. You may recognize Deatherage from his time on Project Runway, where he presented at Lincoln Center during Fashion Week. He’s now back in Louisville, putting his high-fashion touch on the magazine and its events.  In between preparing for the big runway show on April 2nd, Deatherage took some times to talk Derby, Louisville favorites and his inspiration with me.

Last but not least, NFocus is generously giving two General Admission tickets away to one lucky Lou What Wear reader. So check out Gunnar’s favorites and then make sure to enter for two seats!
