Derby Dress of the Day: For a Jockey Club Suite

Apr 12, 2013

For today’s Derby Dress of the Day, I’m excited to share our first local submission from the gals at Dress & Dwell. I’m a big fan of Amanda, Britni and all the ladies over there so I was excited to get a beauty from their Derby lookbook.

When I saw this outfit, complete with a stunning hat from HEADcANDI, (p.s. Blogger gals and fans – Britni made Blair from Atlantic-Pacific’s fascinator last year) I immediately thought it would be perfect for a day spent in a jockey club suite. These swanky suites offer lots of seating, easy access to food & drinks (and by easy, I mean, in your own suite) and a betting window located just steps away. If you’re spending Derby day in one of these, you are a lucky lady (or lad).

Standing up non-stop isn’t an issue so I paired this with a few heel options. Want to be a little playful and preppy – go for the gingham. Feeling girly? Go for the bows. Want to add a slight touch of sass and edge? These Rebecca Minkoff beauties are perfect to pair with all your spring/summer dresses. I still recommend slipping a pair of flats or flip-flops in your bag for the long walk in and out and add a bright clutch or cross-body bag to add a little pop.

This image was just too fun to not share in it’s crystal clear entirety (read to pin!). The picture perfect styling was done by the Lulubelles gals and to make it even better, the model’s name is Danielle too. Thanks to Adrian at Dress & Dwell for sending it over. If you’re looking for a complete Derby look but don’t want to spend a fortune on a dress, I recommend heading across the bridge to New Albany for a stop in their shop. They’ve got HEADcANDI hats and tons of jewelry options. Head over here and here for more D&D goodness.
