Derby Dress of the Day: For the Turf Club

Mar 12, 2014

Coming in a little late on today’s post … but better late than never especially when it comes to the dress of the day.

Hope you all are digging it so far and if you have a specific Derby situation that you’re looking for a little outfit help with, send it on over to danielle@louwhatwear.com – they make for great inspiration.

Today’s look is for the Turf Club. I’m not going to pretend that I’ve spent Derby day in there – I’m just not swanky (read: rich) enough. That doesn’t mean I haven’t scoped out the outfits in there and I’ve had some lucky friends who have had the chance to go. It’s definitely a unique atmosphere mingling with the elite and their, sometimes very famous, guests.

So if you’re heading up there, you’re going to want to do something a little fancier. I think it’s a great place to try something a little less traditional which is why I picked this graphic print Milly number. The silhouette is simple, sleek and a little sexy and you’ll stand out from the crowd in this for sure.

For hat options – go with a black fascinator that pulls on some of the dress’ brighter colors. For shoes, you can go a little higher with tickets in here because you’ll have a place to sit. Not saying you shouldn’t pack a pair of fold-up flats – ’cause you most certainly should – but you won’t be on your feet the entire day. I’d keep the shoes a little more simple to keep the focus on everything going on up top.

That dress is HOT! I wish I were going to the Derby! Do you think it this would work with sandals and a denim jacket for a brunch ‘fit?
