Events + Style Spotting: Nulu Festival

Oct 2, 2013

Last Saturday was a busy day. I got up super early {for a Saturday} to run in the Dr. Mark Lynn Stampede for VIPS (Visually Impaired Preschool Services) before a quick change and out the door for Nulu Fest. At work we had the very cool privilege of working with them on social media for the event so my day at the festival was a mix of work and fun (mostly fun for work).

For those of you not in the Louisville-area, Nulu is an area of Louisville that has recently been revived with tons of shops, amazing restaurants and bars, cool coffee shops, artists and more. It’s where I always send people visiting from out of town and it’s a great place to spend your afternoon on any Saturday but this past Saturday was the real deal. Two blocks were shut-down and packed full of cool vendors, interesting experiences and Nulu oddities (a wax Colonel Sanders on a motorized scooter driving around by remote control and if that’s not odd enough they had some pretty cool power saw races too).

Our first stop was the Please & Thank You booth for a chocolate chip cookie (they are insanely delicious) and then over the Louisville Beer Store tents. After that we mainly just wandered up and down checking out all the different booths and doing tons of people watching (epic people watching).

Last year I attempted to do a bunch of style spotting and my camera ended up not having the battery in it (palm to forehead). This year I was armed and ready with my camera but with work I didn’t get to snap as many outfits as I would have liked. Luckily I snagged one that made the day. So check it out along with some other fun snaps from the event.

First up, a cookie from Please & Thank You and a picture of the most stylish vendor there.
How gorgeous is she? The green maxi looks amazing with her skin color. I love the casually tied t-shirt and stack of bracelets. The lipstick is gorgeous and that hair. Obsessed.
This is the effortless look I’m always trying to pull off but never quite achieve.

The Speed Museum has a this “Before I Die…” wall outside their Nulu space. Some of the answers are funny, some are poignant and some are illegible.
You may recognize it from this post where it was in the background.

Mallory and I ready taking a break from the power saw races.

The {packed} scene at Garage Bar.
Ran into my pal Annie all dolled up and ready for nulu fest.

I have an obsession with photo booths (can’t resist them) and this mobile one from Magnolia Photo Booth is the coolest. I wish I could drive it around everywhere.

I haven’t heard of Nulu yet but I will have to check it out next time I’m in town! Looks like a fun area.
