Get Excited. * Lex What Wear * Launching Soon!

Jul 18, 2012

I am beyond excited to {finally} share some big news!
When I started this blog less than a year ago I purchased the domain name LexWhatWear thinking that if this did well that maybe there could be a Lexington off-shoot. And that’s where Alex comes in. If you’ve been a longtime reader (p.s. – thank you to everyone that stops by here to check out what I’m blabbering about each day), you’ve met Alex: She hooked us up with a great Derby hat giveaway, helped us get ready for tailgating and shared the scoop when she met Lauren Conrad.
Alex and I worked together at my last job and I absolutely adore her. She helped me brainstorm starting Lou What Wear and has always been such a source of support and inspiration. A couple months ago, Alex asked me for some tips about starting her own blog and that’s when the wheels started turning. So without further ado, I am thrilled to announce that Alex will be launching Lex What Wear next month!

I’m looking forward to lots of collaborations, starting with our trip to New York in September for the IFB Conference. I’ll be keeping you posted on the site launch details but I thought it would be fun to do a little formal introduction to Alex (along with her very first outfit post) to get you ready for all the fun to come with Lex What Wear.

Follow @LexWhatWear (and me! @LouWhatWear) on twitter to stay up to date on all the details!

* Personal Background *

Always been a dreamer, and a firm believer in following my heart. I started reading personal style, and fashion books when I was a teen. I always wanted to find a way to stand out from the pack, even if it meant looking silly. My Life: Graduate of Western Kentucky University, Degree in PR and Marketing, Alum Sorority Girl, Worked a brief period at a PR Firm, now working a dream job at Keeneland managing internet sales and Race Meet retail.

* Blogging *

Blogging to me is a creative outlet that I think has more power to influence than what people think or expect. I want the chance to share with others what inspires me. Do you ever go into a huge store and start thinking, where can I wear that, what goes with this, etc? It’s an overwhelming, yet thrilling experience for me. I think this is an opportunity to share in my own words, what it is that drives this ever evolving world of style.

* On Starting LexWhatWear *

This opportunity gives me the excitement of a kid on Christmas morning. No lie. Why you may ask?  I have dreamed of follow and pursing this goal since I was working in a dry cleaners back in my 16-17s. I think Lexington is a city that needs a blog like this, and will thrive on more blogs, more social media, more interest in fashion alone.

* Lexington *

Lexington to me is HOME. The beauty of this place is enough to keep me here. I grew up thinking this was a “big city” where all dreams come to life. Now, I know the streets, the country roads, the places to be, and it still feels the same. When all the world seems to change, Lexington is still Lexington, and people are still chasing their dreams. Small towns got it goin’ on too now. Lexington today is growing with young ambitious adults, and I seem to think I fit right in that crowd of goal setters, and high believers.

* Lexington Style *

It’s part traditional southern and part “be who you want to be.” I believe we all have one thing in common, we all BLEED BLUE, but when it comes to style, we embrace new trends, and welcome individuality. All the while staying classy and true to who we are.

*The Future of Lex What Wear *

The future for this blog is endless. As I grow, as Lexington grows, as fashion grows and changes, this blog will adapt and prevail in style.

* Her Signature Look *

Sometimes I think I am all over the place when it comes to looks, just like my personality. However, if you would ask my friends they tend to say I love flowy tops, adore shorts, and always dress for my mood. I always wanted to grow up to be a classy woman like my mother, so I try and dress to represent what I want to be to her. (If that makes sense)

* Favorite Lexington Boutique *

In Lexington, I support small business shopping. Of course I am advocate for my second home, The Keeneland Shop, but I adore Calypso. I think it represents everything I stand for. Of course I love Bluetique too. Cheap and Chic for a 20 something budget.

* Online Shopping Haunts *

I am addicted to tobi.com I LOVE that place. I also love shopbop, and baublebar.

* Favorite Designers *

I have a collection of designers I usually buy from. I love Rachel Roy & Michael Kors because they make clothes for women with a little curve. They make me happy.

* Favorite Summer Trends *

Monogramming, LACE, and soft pretty colors like mint and light pink.
