Wine, Women and Shoes!

Feb 25, 2016

Not only am I about to spill the details on an event that had me at ‘wine’ but you’re going to want to check out the M A S S I V E giveaway, chock full of goodies, at the end of this post.

I’ve heard about Louisville’s ‘Wine, Women and Shoes’ benefitting the Family Scholar House event but never got the full skinny until one of my close friends, Christian Dreisbach, was named co-chair of this year’s event along with Jennifer Powell. After chatting with both gals, it didn’t take me long to realize this wasn’t a standard Louisville fashion event. Coming up next Friday, March 4th at the Henry Clay, ‘Wine, Women and Shoes’ is more than just the standard cocktails + fashion show run-down.  Have your wallet ready because you can get your shop on at the event – so that look you just have to have can be yours right then and there. According to Christian and Jennifer, the marketplace is filled to the brim with clothes, accessories and, of course, shoes from national vendors and brands that are often not available in Louisville (you know, the good stuff). If this is up your alley, grab a ticket here.

Besides just the standard shopping – with both national and local partners (#shoplocal) – there’s also a silent and live auction that can get pretty competitive. I’m guessing I’ll sit back and let the big dogs big on all those high-priced items and instead will stick to the shoes. One thing that fits more in my price point though is the ‘Keys to the Closet‘ raffle where you can win a $15,000 shopping spree at Von Maur. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased here (hurry though, they are selling out quick).

Last but not least, if you’re planning on attending (hurry and grab a ticket here before it’s sold out) make sure to bring it with your shoe game. The event has a Best in Shoe award that goes to the gal who puts her best foot forward. There’s also two honorable mentions but you know you want those bragging rights.

Most importantly of all, the event benefits the Family Scholar House which provides housing, support and childcare for single parents transitioning from poverty, homelessness and domestic violence to self-sufficiency. The organization is providing life-changing assistance by allowing parents to escape abusive situations and become self-sufficient through education and careers. More importantly, it allows these single parents to provide for their families without having to worry about the high-price costs of housing and childcare. It’s really an amazing place doing so much to empower women and families and get them on the track to success.

Basically, what I’m saying is that you can go, shop, drink a little (or a lot of) wine and know that your money is going to an amazing cause.

Now for the extra good stuff. Even if you can’t attend the event (but you should and limited tickets are still available here), you can win big while supporting the Family Scholar House. Jennifer and Christian have put together a crazy good giveaway  exclusively for Lou What Wear readers that includes a Private Tasting and Tour of Talon Winery for you and 19 of your closets buds. All you have to do to enter is throw your support behind the Family Scholar House social media accounts. You’ll stay up to date on opportunities to get involved, volunteer or donate while being entered to win some serious swag.
