Holiday Walking Around Town

Nov 6, 2014

In my personal opinion, people hop on the Christmas train WAY too quick after Halloween. Your candy’s not even half gone before it’s all Christmas trees and jingle bells every where you go. But there is one early holiday fun that I have no trouble getting behind (it’s the hypocrite in me) and that’s the local Holiday walks. They’re always a good excuse to get together with friends and do a little sipping, strolling and shopping.

This Friday, November 7th,  two Louisville neighborhoods are bringing out the holly for their annual Holiday Walks/Open House – St. Matthews and Nulu. Both promise stores decorated and open late with the possibility of sales, wine and apps aka all things that are good. Get all the details below and consider your Friday night plans made.

St. Matthews Holiday Walk – All of your favorite shops will be open late and some will be offering deals. One of my personal favorites, Dandelion, will be offering an extra 15% off to their Dandelist members (sign up, it’s free and awesome). You’ll definitely want to stop into Colonial Designs to get some major holiday decorating inspiration (here’s a look at year’s past) and you can stop into Blink, Clodhoppers or Blink to snag the perfect dress for any upcoming holiday parties.

I’ll be out there on Friday and hope to see some of you all there too.

Nulu Open House + First Friday Trolley Hop: This is a great combo. Holiday fun + the best way to spend the first Friday of the month. Hop on a trolley and jump off at any of the 50+ boutiques that will be open late for the monthly event. Riding the trolley is free, fun and will have drop off points all along the Main/Market Street corridor and South 4th Street (a great chance to check out the shops there).

As an extra bonus to this month’s First Friday Hop, the South Fourth Street retailers are hosting their 2nd annual “Day of the Dead” event, celebrating Mexico’s most famous holiday, between the Seelbach and Brown Hotels during normal hop hours on Friday, November 7th, from 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM. So see we’re not jumping head first into Christmas JUST yet.

Pop into the Why Louisville store for unique (and super comfy) Louisville-themed tees – a great gift for that friend or family member living away from home; head into Scout for amazing jewelry and crazy, cool home goods; and you better get a cookie at Please & Thank You. And while you’re at it, get one for me. No, but really, it’s a must.
