Outfit Post: Holiday Plaid

Nov 17, 2014

This will come to no surprise to anyone who has checked out more than a few of my outfits – I’m pretty predictable. I don’t normally go for big patterns or crazy print mixing, saving that for the girls who are masters of the bright colors and prints (Julia from Lemon Stripes is a bright ray of sunshine and no one print mixes better than Bethany at B Soup – just in case you’re looking to go that route). Instead I’m one that normally sticks with a classic color palette with the occasional bright spot to break things up. And yes, I love prints but as a rather tall human – a big print can be a lot on me.

Then I saw these pants… and I knew that I had to at least give them a try. So festive, so fun, so out of my normal comfort zone, so inexpensive (for under $40 you can’t go wrong). And in that way, it’s been a bit of a challenge to figure out ways to rock them a variety of ways so I can break them out time and time again for holiday parties. That’s my way of warning you that you’re going to be seeing them a bunch on the blog (I’m even trying ’em out with sneakers… like you’re surprised).

Today though, I’m keeping it simple and sweet with a look that works just as well for the office as it does for a festive dinner with friends or family. I’m thinking I may get extra cheesy next time and add a green belt. Can’t help but make it festive.

Louisville (and mid-west pals) – hope you’re enjoying a snow day! I’ve got my little man in tow and we may or may not be cutting out early today for a little sledding. I guess this whole winter thing is here to stay.

Red Blouse: Forever 21; Plaid Printed Ankle Pants: Old Navy; Nude Wedge Heels: Sole Society (old, similar here – seen before here) ; Necklace: c/o Max and Chloe
Also, please disregard how wrinkly my shirt is. Ironing is not my forte. My b.
