Deep down I am super excited about Spring. Mostly because it means that having this baby isn’t too far away BUT I am struggling a bit in the getting dressed department. Here’s the thing – I’m kind of cheap when it comes to maternity clothes. I just can’t bring myself to spend money on stuff that will only get a month or two of wear so I’ve avoided buying new stuff like the plague. I finally broke down last week and bought a new pair of jeans and a couple t-shirts from ASOS (mom’s to be take note – their maternity section is A+). But that’s it. Otherwise, I am trying to make the most of what I have and buying some pieces from Old Navy that are versatile enough to wear now but will transition perfectly to summer – like this printed tunic for now/dress for later that I am actually wearing today.

This look is one that I would easily wear regularly but has luckily worked just as well for these bigger months. Again, these basics are oldies but goodies but I think it’s important to make the most out of what you’ve got (see above note on being super cheap) mostly so I can save to splurge on the good stuff once you’re back to your normal self. I’m sure there are about a million parenting articles saying that’s a horrible idea but whatever, I’d rather just take a time out for now and come strong in a couple months. Side note – I’m thinking of putting together a post of my favorite products, places to shop, random necessities while pregnant. If there’s any interest out there, let me know in the comments.

Speaking of being excited for Spring – thanks so much for all the feedback on the Derby series. And if you’re into all things Derby, make sure to follow the new instagram account – @derbystyle_ – I started as a catch-all for everything Derby-related. It will have all the Dress of the Day features as well as events, sales and other random Derby inspiration. I’ll still be sharing all kinds of Derby content on my regular accounts but I know everyone isn’t as enthusiastic about the races as I am so now there’s a place for all that unabashed enthusiasm.
