Outfit Post: To the Maxi

Jun 16, 2015

So far, this summer (well, technically late spring) has been a blur of weddings, traveling and showers. Not like I’m complaining at all – I love traveling and an open bar as much, if not more than the next guy. It’s like my siren song.

The act of packing and more importantly, unpacking are the banes of my existence though. It is pretty standard practice for me to wait to pack until an hour before I have to leave (which causes me to run around gathering items with the fury of impending doom) and then wait to unpack for a good week until after I’ve returned home. I mean I’m not totally gross, I put everything that needs to be washed in the laundry and then abandon my clean clothes, leaving them strewn across the floor like forgotten toys. It’s bad. It also drives me crazy but not enough to actually make the change. It’s a problem.

But enough about my inability to unpack. Today it’s all about making my last minute packing less hectic which is what this dress is all about. See when it comes to packing, you’re supposed to bring things that are versatile (see I said you’re supposed to, not like I actually take this advice most of the time) and easy. This maxi dress courtesy of Laundry by Shelli Segal is just that. Versatile enough to go from day to night and super easy to wear. I love that the print and contrast down the middle keeps it from being too basic. The black and white color palette also makes it really simple to dress around. Just add color through jewelry, dress it up with wedges or dress it down – like I did here – with a simple vest. You could also layer on a knotted chambray or linen button-down for a casual vibe. Perfect for summer parties, dinners out or just running errands (it would be cute with a denim vest and chucks too!) – i’ll be getting plenty of use of it when it’s hotter than h out (like it is now). Just throw it in your suitcase and you’re covered for at least two days of outfits + it doesn’t get wrinkly (*throws hands up * yells hallelujah for no hotel ironing).

Seriously though, any one want to come over and help me unpack?
