Shopping: Keeneland Calling

Oct 17, 2011

Last weekend was fall bliss. Football, friends and a family trip to Huber’s where I ate my weight in fried biscuits and apple butter. This week I will be counting calories and the days until my trip to Lexington where I’ll be celebrating one of my bestest friends for her Bachelorette party. The centerpiece of the weekend festivities is a trip to Keeneland (where hopefully i’ll get to see @amclean5) and I am already having outfit anxiety about what to wear.

So to help get my styling creativity flowing and to support our local boutiques, I’ve scoured their facebook pages for some fun outfit ideas. Any additional help is welcome – I am seriously at a loss for what to wear.

I love both of these Camel colored looks. The dress is simple but can easily be jazzed up with some accessories – like a fun feathered fascinator headband. The bow on the pants makes me smile. Such a fun detail on an otherwise plain look. I’d wear some brightly colored, jewel tone heels to help punch it up a little. Or a similar color bow blouse.

p.s. – sorry I don’t know the brands here. if the girls at Clodhoppers can help fill in the deets that would be fab-u-lous.

Dress: Bell (Available at Blink) Image Source: Blink

This green plaid dress that I found on the Blink page screams Keeneland. I’d throw on my favorite Frye boots (and some brown tights if it’s chilly)  and tons of gold jewelry to make it fit the part.

Bag: Beracamy, Image Source: Circe

These multi-colored leather bags at Circe would be a bright addition to a fall get-up and would hold all of the Keeneland essentials – cash, race tickets, phone, lip gloss while still leaving a little room to sneak in a mini-bottle or two.  I’m digging the purple one as a way to add pop to most of my neutral outfits.

Finally, I would try to toughen up this sweet patterned dress from Ribbons & Rags with a blazer and some edgier jewelry. I love the print and that you could pair it with black or brown. I’m thinking I’d go with black tights and a blazer and throw some on some brightly colored jewels and a statement bag.
