Shopping: Mark Your Calendars

Nov 8, 2011

Hopefully you all got outside to enjoy this beautiful day before the rain & cold (aka winter) sets in. And even though it feels like early fall outside, Christmas is coming. No but really, it’s coming soon. Like in a little over a month, in case the Hersey’s Kisses and Hallmark Holidays commercials hadn’t already reminded you.

Growing up in Miami, Christmas never really set in until after Thanksgiving but up here, people are HYPE about Christmas and they get things moving while you still have some of the good stuff (aka chocolate) left in your Halloween candy stash.

So you’re probably wondering where this post is going, well my friends, today’s post is to share some upcoming holiday events that you won’t want to miss. Whether you’re looking for gifts for your friends, family or your self – these offerings should help you check some people off your list while keeping your shopping dollars local.

  • Friday, November 11 from 6 to 9 pm – Holiday Walk 2011
The shops of St. Matthews – including blink Boutique, Clodhoppers, Blush, Colonial Designs and more – will be hosting their annual Holiday walk which includes music, cocktails, holidays shopping and more. Grab some goodies and head over to the Pie Kitchen for some hot cocoa or a hot fudge sundae (my personal favorite) when you’re done.
  • Friday, November 11 – Sunday November 13 – 22nd Annual Festival of Trees & Lights benefiting Kosair Children’s Hospital
Help out a great cause by heading down to Louisville Slugger Field and picking up a wreath or Christmas tree decorated (or should I say designed) by local volunteers. And let me assure you, these are no holly hobby arts & crafts projects. These are some seriously nice {and fancy!} wreaths. I made one a couple years ago and it was WAY too arts & crafts to be even on the same level with some of the ones in there. I’m not going to say how much they were selling it for cause it’s pretty embarrassing. But really, if you want to impress your friends by saying you made something fancy (but don’t have the time) go snag one of these and the proceeds will all go to Kosair Children’s Hospital.
If you are involved in a holiday event this weekend and want to have it added to this list or if you have an event coming up in the next few weeks and want to give me a heads up,  email me at danielle@louwhatwear.com
Also, I would LOVE to get some reader submissions from Breeder’s Cup. Help a girl out and send your fab pics to submit@louwhatwear.com
