New Year’s at Akikos

Jan 2, 2012

Happy New Year! 2011 was a jam packed year (one that included starting this little ole blog) and I joined some friends to send last year out in style and welcome in all that 2012 has in store. A couple of friends hosted a very fun NYE party at Akikos on Bardstown Road where karaoke was strongly encouraged. The night was filled with crowd pleasing jams, celebratory drinks and lots of fab party ‘fits.

No one let the dive bar location stop them from adding a little sparkle to the new year. I wish I had taken more pictures but alas, the lure of the karaoke room was too strong and I abandoned my camera to dance the night away.

Hope your New Year was a night to remember (or forget?) – I’m looking forward to stepping up my game in 2012 to make Lou What Wear even better.

Enjoy!

Danielle (aka me) – Dress: BCBG, Necklace: Stella & Dot; Megan – Dress: Piperlime Outlet (no tag); Necklace: Stella & Dot

I decided to jump into the LWW fun since it was New Year’s and all. Megan & her hubs had Drew & I over for dinner before Akikos. When I got there Megan wasn’t as “dressed up” so I peer pressured her into throwing on a party dress. I’m pretty sure she was happy she made the switch. I absolutely love the Stella & Dot necklace Megan had on. Seriously, I’m obsessed.

Kenny & Morgan – Dress: BCBG; Necklace: Kate Spade

Morgan & Kenny (a former Voice Tribune Best Dressed winner) always look great and NYE was no exception. I love her LBD with the statement necklace and gold shoes.

Kristin C. – Lace Jumper: ; Necklace:

I’ve joked to Kristin that she needs to just let me know what her weekend plans are so I can come stalk her outfits and take pictures for the blog. She really does always look ridiculously cute and put together. Her lace jumper may not have worked for 99% of the people out on New Year’s but was perfect on her. Paired with simple nude heels and a statement pearl necklace, she looked fab. Hers was my favorite look of the night and there were some really great looks taking the stage at Akikos.

Erin & Kelly – Jacket: Marc by Marc Jacobs

There were quite a few girls showing off their new (or new-ish) engagement bling including these two who are not only two of my favorite people but quite possible two of the funniest girls you’l ever meet. I’ve got to take an extra second to gush on Kelly and her gorgeous ring since she is my bestest friend and JUST got engaged on Christmas Eve. You can bet that I am already counting down until the wedding.

Frances, Channing & Caitlin

Frances & Channing were a bright breath of fresh air in a room filled with LBD’s. I loved the silky jewel toned tops that lit up the room. And isn’t Caitlin gorgeous? She paired black shorts with tights, a tank and a fun sparkly vest. She’s also in the newly engaged group as you can see from her left hand bling.

And since I can’t resist an opportunity to embarrass the hubs – here he is looking good with his golfing buds Alex and Billy.

  5. […] Today has been probably the most relaxing day of the holiday season for me. I’m at work but it’s been nice to catch up with co-workers on their holiday, grab lunch and tackle a little of my to-do list. That being said, I am a little unprepared on the posting side of things. I thought that since New Year’s is right around the corner, it would be fun to throw it back to New Year’s Eve 2011. […]
