Shopping + Louisville: Dandelion 12 Days of Christmas

It’s here. One of the best local sales of the year – the Dandelion ’12 Days of Christmas.’

Starting tomorrow (Saturday, December 13), Dandelion (3729 Lexington Road  – 40207) will be doing one special, big time deal a day. It could be 20% off all jewelry 0r 20% off all bath and body products or buy three get one free on holiday decor. It’s an awesome way to snag those last minute gifts or find something special for the guy/gal that has everything.

To stay up to date on all the deals, Dandelion (and yours truly) encourages you to sign up to become a Dandelist member. They’ll email you the deal every morning (or you can find it on Facebook and  Instagram) plus you’ll get extra perks like 10% off every $100 spent, complimentary gift wrap and 15% off during your birthday month.

And here’s my favorite part. Say you see that they’re doing 20% off all barware on Tuesday but you can’t make it into the store until Friday. Call up the gals at Dandelion, tell them what you want (those awesome Kentucky glasses), give them your payment info and they’ll have it all ready to go for you when you can stop into the store.

Unfortunately I don’t have the low-down on all the daily deals but I can guarantee that you’re going to want to stay up to date on them. I’ve included some of my favorite gift picks below … Happy Holiday shopping!

Shopping + Outfit Post: Cyber Monday in Mint

How great is Thanksgiving weekend? Ours was filled with a lot of lazy lounging, a little Black Friday shopping, lots and lots of eating and finally breaking out out Christmas decorations. We also snuck in a turkey day trip to Milestone – gah, I had missed Rhythm Ride – and we braved the Kentucky vs. Louisville football game. Side note, Drew & I are about as passionate fans as they come and we were able to go the game without getting in any sort of spat or fight. Definitely a first for us. I’m thinking it means we are getting more mature which is just another way to say old.

Speaking of being old, I’m back at work and I think we can all agree that the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend is the pitts in the office. Thankfully we have the distraction of a little Cyber Monday shopping. I’m not recommending that you neglect your to-do’s for a day full of scouring the internet for sales, but I think rewarding your productivity by cashing in on the deals is totally acceptable.

Lately I’ve been picking up everything Old Navy is putting down so I thought I’d break out this mint oversized blazer/coat while encouraging you to head over there to stock up while they’re offering 40% off everything. They’re doing the same thing over at Gap AND Banana Republic so just be ready to splurge.

A couple other sales I’m stalking – 50% off everything at LOFT (use code MONDAY), 40% off everything at C.Wonder, 30% off everything at ASOS (use code ILOVEMONDAYS) and 30% off everything at J.CREW with code HOLIDAY. Yup – you’re going to want to hit those up. Want more deals & inspiration. Check out my 50 under $50 gift guide for all my favorites and sale info.

Shopping: Lust vs. Must in Neon

Public Service Announcement: Some of you all may not know that I also write a little blog called secondary embarrassment. It’s basically an ode to all the crazies that pop up each week on The Bachelor (ette/Pad). If you share the same awkward embarrassment every time you tune into ABC on Mondays, then you might be interested in checking my recaps out.  Oh and you’ve been warned, they are not full of sugar, spice and everything nice. If that’s not for you then back to your regularly scheduled post.

This weekend one of my very few excursions outside the house was to Target (obviously). I’m holding strong on my goal to stifle the spending in January and make the most of what I have but I couldn’t help but notice a flash of neon as I made my way past the clothes and over to the boring home necessities.

And then on Sunday, I settled in to do a little reading and flipped open the February Lucky Magazine, only to see this:

There it was again. That perfectly fun and flirty neon number. As much as I loved it, I couldn’t help but think “will we all love neon tomorrow?” (sung just like the classic ditty.) But afteronline {window} shopping, it was clear that the bright hue would be popping up this spring. I knew I had to piggy back on Lucky and show just how great of a steal this shift is. But better act fast, I couldn’t find it in green online anymore, so head over to your local Target (where you know you’ll drop $100 and only have one small bag to show for it) ASAP.

 Lust: Alice + Olivia $238 | Must: Target $27.99

p.s. – Just in case you’re wondering, I didn’t buy the dress but you know I wanted to! Still holding strong!
