Showing Shoshanna a lot of love with my Derby Dress of the Day today. Two years ago, I wore this Shoshanna number to the Oaks and loved it. The dresses fit my shape really well and are comfortable enough to wear all day – two things I think we’re all looking for in a great Derby dress. I saw this print last night when looking for a link to today’s earlier post and fell in love. I love the color mix, the modern floral print and the cut. Then I saw the crop combo and had to share.
I settled on this look for an indoor box because of the price point on the dresses (a little higher) and because of the ladylike silhouettes. It’s a little more grown up whenever you’re inside at Churchill Downs (well at least when you get there, by the end of the day it’s a totally different story) so you want your clothes to reflect that. I like how both of these are really flattering but not showing a ton of skin. I’ve pair both looks with simple tan accessories so that you can play more with color on your hat. I feel like something with pops of pink would look amazing with this. And you can go with a heel – like this sandal with a stacked heel that allows for comfortable walking – since you’ll have somewhere to plop down when you’re too tired of standing/walking.
p.s. – Infield friends, I haven’t forgotten about you. I’m rounding up some festival/infield options that are cute, inexpensive and won’t have you looking totally out of place. #nohatsplease
