Is this week going by SO slow for anyone else? I have been convinced all day it’s Thursday when it’s really only Wednesday. Probably just wishing the time would fly by to Derby week.
I mean I’m definitely not prepared physically but mentally, I’m ready for it to be Derby time. If you’re like me and still haven’t picked out your outfit for the track, today’s look is something a little more subtle than some of my Derby inspo so if you’re looking for more florals and bright colors, head over to one of these pages for lots more content.

If you’re heading to the Turf Club, consider yourself a VIP. The Turf Club, although recently remodeled and modernized, is one of the oldest areas of the track. The Turf Club is an exclusive, members-only lounge and dining room located in the clubhouse section of Churchill Downs, directly overlooking the racetrack’s finish line. So to get in, you have to be with someone who’s a member (they have pins – which for some reason, I love).
If you’re going to the Turf Club for the first time, you can expect dining room style seating with a server, outdoor balconies, a swanky bar area and your own betting windows. Rain or shine, you are golden. The Turf Club is definitely a see and be seen area so you’ll want to look your best.
Since you don’t have to battle with the elements or being on your feet all day, you can go with something like this polka dot number. The print and color give it a sweet side but I feel like the longer ruffle hem line and daring slit in front give it a modern feel. Instead of going full-girly, I paired it with simple, yet interesting, neutral accessories and a standout fascinator from Fascinate Designs.
Oh and if you end up ordering a dress after seeing it here, I’d LOVE it if you’d tag me (@louwhatwear). I get so excited seeing people’s Derby looks and would be even more excited to see someone wearing something they spotted here.
