Derby comes in a close second behind Christmas as my favorite time of year. I think it is tied with the week of my birthday. And if you know me, you know how much I love my birthday week. Derby is right up there with it. If you’ve never been, it definitely needs to be added to your bucket list. It’s that amazing.
I. LOVE. IT.
There is no other time of year when is it considered cooler to be in Louisville, Kentucky than most other cities around the country. For the first Saturday in May, Louisville is THE place to be. Unfortunately, this year I will be out of town on Derby (booo!!!) but it’s to attend a great friend’s wedding in Miami, so it’s all good. Thankfully, I’ll be going to Oaks so I’ll get to rock some Derby fashion aka a hat or fascinator. Since it is right around the corner, I thought I’d close the week out with a little Derby inspiration post. I tend to gravitate towards more classic looks for Derby – straw hats, simple white/ivory fascinators and bold fitted dresses and I’ve never been one to do a truly extravagant hat (but I do love ooohhh and ahhing over them). This year I’m thinking of going with a bright bright neon or a pretty pastel with a simple topper.
What’s your plan for Derby and Oaks? Are you going? Dreaming of going? Planning on going one day?
