Louisville Happenings

Nov 6, 2013

Hey local ladies (and gents)! It’s been way too long since I’ve done a post on events happening around town (and a couple news tidbits) so I’m popping in to share details on some fun upcoming events. Prepare to mark your calendars!

p.s. – If you have an event, sale or local news tidbit you’d like to share, send it over to danielle@louwhatwear.com. I’ve been considering adding a page to the site dedicated to a running list of local events happening each month. If you’re interested in something like that, leave me a little note in the comments or on Facebook – would love to hear your thoughts!

* Urban Outfitters is hosting a “Customize Your Chucks” event tomorrow (Thursday November 7th) from 5 to 8 pm. Stop by the Bardstown Road store, pick up a new pair of Converse (great timing, consider this ode to sneakers), and do a little DIY to customize them to your hearts content. They’ll have all the supplies on hand just be prepared to snag a new pair of sneaks.

* GRACESHIP got some great news in the form of the official stamp of approval from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). The Louisville-based company making handbags for working gals, owned and designed by Emily Gimmel, is the first Kentucky-based company to become “Vegan Certified” by the organization. The company underwent a rigorous application process to get the certification that showcases products and companies made without animal testing or ingredients. Very exciting to see the growth of GRACESHIP from this feature in their early days to what they’re accomplishing now. Congrats to Emily and her team!

* Does just the thought of the holidays cause stress to set in? If you’re anything like me, you’re in luck. Elements Therapeutic Massage is giving away a free hour-long massage each and every day in November.  The giveaway is already 6 days in but you still have plenty of chances to win. Head over to their Facebook page to enter.
