Valentine’s Day is overrated … except when it comes to the ridiculously cute stuff in stores this time of year. Here’s the thing – the chances that your significant other is going to get you one of those fun, sweet, silly gifts is slim to none. But the chances that your BFF will get it for you are much higher.

I’ve celebrated some form of what is now dubbed Galentine’s Day (since we have to make up a word for everything) since freshman year of college when my BFF Kelly and I swapped gifts in our dorm. In the years since (and there’s been too many to mention a number), there’s been more gifts plus fun exchanges with friends like our Secret Cupid at work and a Favorite Things party with friends where everyone left with, not one, but three favorites from friends.

So get your guy or gal a card, their favorite chocolates and set a date night for any night except Valentine’s Day, then settle in for a movie or binge TV session. And save the gift giving for your best gal pals. Thinking these t-shirts may be heading to my shopping cart shortly.
