We all know that when it comes to Derby, it’s all about the hat. And lately it’s not just hats that fit the Derby bill. In the last few years, it’s become all about the fascinator and today’s is an out of the park beauty by Kenzie Kapp.
Kenzie is one talented gal and I seriously recommend hitting up her studio, The Mill, if you’re still looking for something special. If you’re coming in from out of town and staying downtown, run down to Main Street and see her. The studio is the most colorful corner in Louisville and Kenzie may be one of the friendliest gals you’ll ever meet.
This pink feathery confection is the perfect topper to this graphic Milly set. Up until slipping this on, I wasn’t that in to midi-skirts but this one may have changed my mind. Going with a graphic black and white option gives you the ability to go wild with your hat/headpiece. So if you’re stumped on what to wear, pick your favorite little black or white dress and then go all out on top.
Wondering where to wear something like this? Think the fancy, indoor areas like the Turf Club, 4th Floor Terrance, Matt Winn Room or Jockey Club Suites. Or ditch the hat and wear it to one of the Derby Eve galas (come see me at the Hermitage Grand Gala) – just add some bold jewelry to add a little party pizzazz.
p.s. – you still have time to order a dress in time for Kentucky Oaks/Derby so if you’re still looking for options, head over here.
