Kentucky Derby Style: Ladylike Lace

Mar 27, 2017

You guys, I am almost too bummed to write. Seriously, the only thing getting me through last night’s devastating Kentucky loss is focusing on Derby. No really, just writing that made me embarrassingly bummed out again. Let’s not talk about it.

Instead, let’s talk Derby!

Okay, so this dress was made for a day at the races. You could easily dress it up like I did here, or go a little more casual with wedges or even flat sandals for the Paddock with a simple fascinator or straw hat. I love that it incorporates the cold shoulder but the structure means you won’t have to be messing with straps falling all day. I was going for the ladylike look here so I paired it with a simple Headcandi fascinator. I love the shape of this piece plus it’s not too heavy and will stay put all day. Don’t forget that you can save 15% off any Headcandi piece, including custom work, now through March 31 with code LOUWHATWEAR

Quick note: I linked to a few different retailers above because I know sizes were sold out in some places. So this gives you a few options – plus it’s on sale in a couple spots (with limited sizing), so check them all out to see if they have your size.

Since I am using Derby as a way to distract me, I’m working on the finishing touches of the Derby section on the site. So when you come back tomorrow, there will be LOTS of dress options at a variety of price points plus hats, bags and accessories to pick from. Along with some of my favorite local places to shop for dresses and accessories. I’ll also be bringing back some past content to give you even more inspiration. Plus, I’ve got some hair tutorials coming your way soon along with more Derby content than you probably want. But I since I love it so much, you’re coming along for the ride.
