I mentioned last week that I am trying to make the most of what’s already lurking in my closet this month in an effort to cut spending. But more than that, it’s a fun way to rediscover some things that haven’t seen the light of day in a while.
To accomplish this, I started a Pinterest board full of outfit inspiration. Not just looks I love but outfits I legitimately think I can put together with stuff I already have. Today’s look was inspired by this J.Crew look. It had three things I loved: simple, chic and easy to re-create. I also love that it gave me the chance to break out a skirt that I normally reserve for warm summer days.
My twists: I have a weird issue with things around my neck, so I opted for a Henley tee rather than a turtleneck and I thought I’d pull out my houndstooth coat to add a little more fun. Yes, my skirt is lace and my sunglasses aren’t tortoise but I think they’re close enough. Oh yeah, and I’m not a J.Crew model. Details.
Coat: DKNY (old, similar here and here); Henley Tee: Gap; Lace Skirt: Forever 21; Boots: Rosegold (old); Polka Dot Snood: J.Crew (boo it’s sold out); Bracelets: Stella & Dot and Gigglosophy; Sunglasses: Kate Spade

I adore this look! The great thing about an inspiration photo is that you don’t have to do an exact copy cat, you add your own flair! The lace, houndstooth and polka dots are all subtle yet fun together.

I love everything about this outfit. Black and white is seriously one of my favorite trends for this winter – so crisp & clean! Plus I really need to get a lace skirt like yours!! Love it!

[…] that off my chest, on to the outfit post. Earlier this year, I did a month full of posts where I reworked items in my closet with some inspiration from Pinterest. It’s especially helpful in the times between seasons […]
