First off, I have to say a big thank you to everyone who has read, pinned, liked or shared a link to Lou What Wear this past month. April was the best month this little project of mine has ever had and I’m excited to see what’s next. As always, I love hearing from you all, so if there’s something you hate or love or want to see more (or less) of, let me know!
Okay, so I can’t believe we’re halfway through Derby week. It’s officially crunch time and if you’re still in need of some last minute details – today and tomorrow are the days to tackle it!
So everyone knows hats are a must for Oaks and Derby but the rest of the week at the track (where you could find me yesterday for work and today with Beth for a little fun with America’s Best Racing), hats are not the norm. It’s more the look you go for when going to a summer wedding, a day at Keeneland or a summer cocktail party. Today’s post reflects that look. You could certainly style either of these up with a hat for the big days but they work just as well for a mid-week day at the track or a fun summer event.
I fell in love with this Shoshanna number at Blink! and think it is almost too perfect for a gal who’s getting married this summer. Perfect for a rehearsal dinner or bridal luncheon – the beading on the neckline gives a pretty splash of color against the white. And Beth’s striped dress from Dress & Dwell is preppy perfection. Simple with a little something extra. You can go simple with a pair of Jack Rodgers or gold flip flops or go dressier with a fun colored heel. I paired this dress with a low heel because a long day at the track can give your feet hell so make sure you think about if you’ll have seating opportunities when picking a shoe.
Also, if you’re out at the track anytime this week, snap a pic and send it to me at danielle@louwhatwear.com – I’ll be doing a Derby wrap-up next week and would love to include you all!
Dress: Shoshanna Beaded Freyja Dress available at Blink! Boutique (also available in a one-shoulder version); Shoes: DSW; Bag and Mint Bracelets: Dandelion; Sunglasses: LOFT

so glad you’re digging it julie!

You’re right, that dress would be great for a bride. And those blue shoes are stunning.
