Gingham and summer, they pretty much go hand in hand, right? Okay so maybe I think they go hand in hand because it’s the print of choice for picnic basket blankets and paper plates. Either way, I’m avoiding an off-the-shoulder red check top so as not to look like a member of the Beverly Hillbillies and adding tons of the black and blue options to my {never-ending} summer wish list.

I’m on quite the black and white kick these days and a touch of gingham makes it seem a little less stark, adds a little fun to a monochromatic palette. I want to pair both of these tops with white or distressed jeans. Add a little whimsy to a black cocktail dress with these sandals or make my work wear feel a little more playful with these loafers.

My only tip: When it comes to gingham, don’t go overboard and risk looking like a walking tablecloth. Cause you know, ants
