If you’re like me and half the planet, you are counting down until the premiere of The Hunger Games on Friday. But since the lovely star of the movies is from here in Louisville, her very lucky family members got to head out to LA last week for the world premiere. Obviously, I was seriously jealous but also extremely excited when Meredith Lawrence asked me to help her pick out the perfect look for the event.
Meredith (who is a knock-out and would look good in a paper sack) and I headed over to Clodhoppers where the fabulous girls helped us find a look that was a little bit “business attire” (yes, that’s what the invite said) with a little bit of sass that befit the premiere of this huge movie. We ended up finding the one on the first try but she still tried on a handful of amazing dresses, many of which would be perfect for a Derby event (ps – Clodhoppers is getting new dresses in daily for Derby so definitely stop in if you’re looking.)
We had a lot of fun playing dress up and a huge thank you goes out to Clodhoppers for their help in putting together this look. After lining up a dress, I scoped out some fun accessories to top off her look from Tina at Stella & Dot. You’ll see that the dress spoke for itself so just a few little touches was all she needed to complete the look.
Meredith sent me some pictures from the premiere and, as promised, came home with tons of stories to share.
Here’s a look at our shopping trip & the finished ‘fit. Enjoy!
First up was the winner. This cobalt blue French Connection bandage dress looked FAB-U-LOUS on Meredith (ps – she has a 10 month old baby.). The color went perfectly with her hair and it fit the most important stipulation in our search – Not Black. Consider me obsessed.
Now that you’ve seen the winner. Here’s the rest of our selections.
This Milly dress is gorgeous but definitely overpowered Meredith’s petite frame & itty-bitty waist.
Like I said, Meredith would look fab in a paper bag but in this sleek back French Connection bandage dress she looked amazing. But she didn’t want to do black so on to the next one.
The color on this Trina Turk dress was amazing but it was a little too preppy and a little too Derby-ish for this event. The hunt continues…
This black Elizabeth & James dress caught my eye on the sale rack an looked great but again we went back to the no black dress rule (She did end up taking this one as a back up!)
This long dress was stunning on and would be perfect for a formal event. We all loved the different options when it came to tying the waist band and the color was great but it was ruled out for the length.
Last but definitely not least, here’s so shots of Meredith at the big Hunger Games premiere. She ended up wearing gold accessories from Stella & Dot. To keep it simple, we picked the Chantilly Lace Cuff and the Serenity Stone Drop Earrings in green. The green looked great
with her hair & eyes and complimented the blue dress.

Thanks to Clodhoppers & Tina Sexton from Stella & Dot for their help with this post!
The fine print: I did not get paid or perked for this post but Meredith was lent a dress for the event by the lovely ladies at Clodhoppers and jewelry by Tina Sexton.
I have the blue French Connection dress! It’s a pretty amazing nod to Herve Leger (and about $1,000 less!). I love that it comes in a shmillion colors. So flattering!
A Big Thank You to Danielle, Lou What Wear, Clodhoppers, Stella & Dot and Rebecca Hook Jewelry! – xo Meredith

For the FC dress–should i go up a size? What size did meredith get hers in?
I would say it’s true to size but you may want to go up a size since it’s a snug fit. Meredith’s is a 2.
About the french connection bandage dress, what size sould I take for 4’9, 103 lbs, 32.5, 25.5, 34.5? I see french connections size chart doesn’t exactly fit the reality. Thanks!
