Meet Beth. You’re going to love her.
I stumbled upon seersucker + saddles a couple weeks ago and was instantly a fan. First off, I was pumped to find another Kentucky blogger and then I was extra jazzed to find out shes’s a fellow Florida transplant. Beth, who lives in Lexington, fills her blog with great style and beautiful photography. I love how she easily mixes trends and a preppy flair with classic wardrobe staples. Add to that a nice combo of high-end and wallet-friendly items and you’ve got a new addition to your daily reading/viewing.
I asked Beth to tell us a little about herself, her blog and her love of fashion. And if you’re a Lexington reader, she’s got the scoop on some of the best boutiques. After this sneak peak, head over to her blog and enjoy!
In a couple sentences, can you tell me a little bit about your personal background.
Born and raised in South Florida, I have resided in Lexington, KY for 7+ years with my husband and two little girls, Chase 6, Campbell 3.Editor’s Note: Yup, she’s got two kiddos and looks ah-maz-ing.What made you decide to start your blog? What’s been the most fun part of the process? Most challenging? Most rewarding?
Fashion has ALWAYS been such a creative outlet for me. Some people have art or music..I have fashion. Creating and conceptualizing looks from head to toe is such a passion of mine–it fills a creative need I’ve always had since I was a young gal. Creating the blog and bringing it to life in photos has been so enjoyable….Being that both myself and my photographer are working mothers of 2 (my real gig is a Medical Sales Consultant), time has been the most challenging. The most rewarding aspect of this endeavor hands down has been when women say to me, “Your look inspired me to put together something I normally never would have.”
What’s the inspiration for the name seersuckers + saddles?I wanted a name that embodied both my roots and my life now. Seersucker has always been such a favorite fabric of mine and it equates to Palm Beach prep which I so identify with. Lexington lifestyle centers around horses….and I’m a sucker for anything horsebit!
What kind of response have you received so far?
Wonderfully positive feedback. Hearing, “I look forward to your new posts each morning,” is truly so humbling and incredibly rewarding at the same time!!!
What’s your favorite part of living in Lexington?
Oh goodness, where do I begin? I tell my Floridian friends & family that Lexington is a little hidden gem. Aside from the gorgeous nature that surrounds us, it offers many amenities of a big city and yet preserves the small town charm. When I moved here, I knew not one soul other than my husband. It is such a welcoming, lively town and I have made such lasting friendships. It truly is family focused and an amazing place to raise children….and it ain’t too shabby sports wise, either!!
How would you sum up Lexington style? How does that inspire you and your blog?
This little town has got boatloads of style. Girly, fresh, and current is how I would sum up Lexingtonian style. The UK coeds keep it modern and urban while the young professionals keep it classic with an element of flair.
What do you see for the future of your blog?
Initially when I started, it was more or less a diary of my style–ie: a means to document & satisfy a creative need I have. However, 2 months into this journey, the opportunities to take this to the next level is beyond exciting. Styling and product partnerships are definitely on the brain. The possibilities are endless!
Fun fashion stuff….
What would you say is your signature look?
I am such a darn sucker for a good ole’ button down, my Ernest Sen or 7 jeans, my J. Crew brown belt, and ballet flats….Load it down with some baubles, and I feel so comfy, classic, and stylish!
What’s your favorite boutique?
Here in town is AJ’s Casuals–the gals are just lovely and ensure Lexington is donned in style (DVF, Kate Spade, Tibi)–their buying is spot on and never disappoints! Monkees is such a charming boutique. They carry such wonderful lines (Trina Turk, Beth Bowley, Tom Ford shades), with price points for those who may be on a budget! Peppermint Palm, a Lilly Pulitzer signature store, satisfies my preppy styling needs—I feel transported to my hometown whenever I shop there!
Editor’s Note: Love AJ’s Casuals and Lauren, the beauty behind the scenes responsible for their fabulous selection. Definitely a must-shop-spot in Lexington.
What’s your favorite place to shop online?
Goodness gracious, the list is endless. Shopbop, Piperlime, J.Crew, and Nordstrom are amazing one stop shop sites with insane selections of apparel, shoes, jewelry, and handbags!! Zara and Asos are always on trend at affordable price points. I cannot deny my love of Zappos–if you shop there enough, they will upgrade you to free overnight shipping, free returns, and their couture line is amazing! I can get kicks for the whole family!
Favorite designers?
I really don’t discriminate in regards to designers…I love DVF…she honestly does no wrong in my eyes. Sort of obsessed with the Olsen twins’ plethora of lines, Elizabeth & James, the Row, StyleMint…those gals are amazing!
What trend are you loving for summer?
Not necessarily a trend as it never goes out of style, but nautical I will always love, and the color blocking and print mixing is so darn fun & fresh…and allows your personality to shine through!
See, I told you you’d love her style! Thanks so much to Beth and her photographers Kristin Tatem and Lindsey Potter for their help with this post.
