Outfit Post: Odd Couple – Black & Plaid

Jan 15, 2013

It’s Tuesday which means two things. I’m tired (because I spent all night watching and then mocking The Bachelor) and there’s a new recap up at secondary embarrassment.

It’s also time for another pinterest-inspired outfit post. I’m trying to stay strong in my quest to pull together looks from what’s lurking in the depths of my closet. Today’s inspiration can be found here (while you’re there, make sure to follow me on pinterest). I love this picture, first off, because she looks so care-free. But then going past that, I love the simple combination (I think we’re seeing a pattern in these pinspired posts) with a hint of edge. And last, I like the unexpected twist of pairing plaid with leopard.

So here’s my take on the look. I switched out the booties for heels, went with a brighter plaid and swapped out the leather jacket for a blazer (p.s. – can someone help me find the perfect leather jacket?). I don’t think I pulled off the effortless part (I think it helps when you’re extra slim) but I dig it (other than the hair part. more help needed in that department)

What do you all think?

Jacket: Theory (old- but almost exactly the same here); T-Shirt: Gap; Black Denim Jeans: Banana Republic; Belt: J.Crew (old); Scarf: Gap; Heels: Target

I think you look effortlessly put together! I think a blazer, heels, and a scarf can make a plain tshirt look fab. And I see that necklace peaking through, love it!

I really like the scarf and how you tied it. Can you explain how you tied it? I’m not real good with scarves, but I would like to. 🙂
