Outfit Post: Wedding Season

It’s Monday and I still haven’t had this baby yet. So there’s that. Trust me, a cup of coffee certainly isn’t going to cut it to cure this case of the blahs.

Since this waiting game is about all I can focus on, it’s been tough to get inspired to do lots of fun blog content (especially now that Derby is over). Honestly, it’s been tough to just conquer the days – any activity where I have to see people/socialize (and or wear anything other than leggings/sweatpants) is tedious and I’m definitely ready to stop responding to all the standard pregnancy questions – “No, I don’t feel well but I’m trying to fake it.” Nope I still haven’t had the baby yet.” “Yes, I’m ready for this to be done already.”

But enough of all that debbie downer talk. Thankfully, when we shot the Derby dress feature we took some pictures of pretty gals in pretty party dresses that could be worn to the track on those early days in the week when you don’t need a hat. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to work them all in before the race but they were too fun not to share.

These looks on Kristen and Lynsey are equally perfect for a summer wedding as a Derby week day at the track. And since wedding season is getting into full swing (we got two invitations last week and we aren’t even invited to that many this year), I thought I’d share these looks. I know finding great dresses that don’t cost a fortune are also always a priority – so I’m going to get a wedding season board going on Pinterest to help you from spending hours scouring the internet for something that works. You can follow along here and pop in whenever you’re in need 0f a lead or two.

Outfit Post: A Milly Moment * Part I

So yesterday was the first day of Spring but judging from the temperatures outside, I’m not buying it.

That being said, with the first day of Spring comes the official countdown to the Kentucky Derby. We’re down to 44 days until the most exciting two minutes in sports so it’s definitely time to start thinking about what to wear to the races. I’ve got a few Derby style posts up my sleeve but after putting on this Milly floral number, I’ve already started planning my Derby outfit around it.

Obviously, these pictures had to be saved for inside since it is freaking freezing out now but I’m hoping for a bright, sunny day in May to wear this with a fun fascinator – I’m thinking something with purple feathers for sure.

Floral Peplum Dress: Milly c/o Clodhoppers; Shoes: DSW (last seen here with another floral number); Yellow Clutch: Coach; Sunglasses: LOFT

Outfit Post: The Color Purple

If my life had a uniform, this would be it. Skinny pants, silk blouse and blazer. It’s my go-to. But since I know uniforms can get boring, I try to add in new elements to this standard look to make it a little more exciting. Enter these purple pants.

I picked them up from the dry cleaners and knew that they were destined for another Lucky Magazine outfit inspiration post (Are you all getting tired of these yet? Hopefully not, we’re only half way through the month. I promise to use new sources of inspiration next week!). I used a little from each of these looks to pull together this look.

Also, I switched it up with some {unplanned} indoor pictures. I had kind of given up on taking pictures of this look but after my coffee date with the adorable Beth of seersucker + saddles (more on that below), she convinced me to make it happen. Making it happen meant settling for some indoor pics taken by Drew. So enjoy the look at my little closet nook!

p.s. – Meeting Beth was like meeting a long-lost friend. After following her blog since shortly after she launched it last Spring and corresponding back and forth, I felt like I already knew her but woah was that magnified on our little blogging date. I’m an even bigger fan and I’m so excited about some projects we want to start collaborating on. Meeting really interesting and cool people like her are one of my favorite things about running this little side project. Sorry for gushing but I couldn’t help it! If you haven’t checked out her blog, you need to.
