Shopping + Louisville: Holiday Gifts Galore at Dandelion Boutique

The majority of my shopping can be broken down into two distinct camps: 1. online 2. around the corner from my house.

As much as I love shopping, making it just about anywhere is crazy challenging these days. Seriously, I’m not sure which is worse – shopping with a four-year-old or a six-month-old; each has it’s very own unique set of challenges. Thankfully, I only live about two blocks away from one of my favorites – Dandelion. I’ve posted just about a million times about Dandelion but I can’t help but jump at any chance to work with them since it is legitimately my most frequented local shop.

Louisville is full of awesome neighborhood gift shops but Dandelion (located in The Vogue St. Matthews – 3729 Lexington Rd) has won a place in my heart for always having an array of dependable gift options – candles, the best smelling Lollia lotions, the cutest stud earrings, unique glassware – along with new surprises every time I stop in. Last time I popped in, I spotted these dog mugs. And yesterday, the Christmas spirit had me ready to start decorating.

So this Christmas season, I’m teaming up with Dandelion to share some of my favorite gift options. No lie, you could walk into the cozy shop and walk out with a present for every lady on your shopping list and even some great options for the guys in your life (personalized mini-bourbon barrels, lots of bar ware and gadgets).

I plan on stopping in on Black Friday and knocking out a good portion of my list. Pick up a new scent and a Matt & Nat bag for your Mom, a Voluspa or Sydney Hale candle for your boss, a Pug mug for your dog-obsessed best friend, a Loren Hope statement necklace for your aunt or mother-in-law, stud earrings for your niece, a monogrammed acrylic necklace for your little sister and a fun frame (where you’ll put a family pic) for your grandma. And just like that you’re done.

Check out the killer deals they are running on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday and then pop in to check out my gift picks. Just be on the lookout for the  *Lou What Wear* tags marking all my favorites. If you snag one, be sure to snap a picture and tag me (@louwhatwear)! I can’t wait to see what you all get!

Shopping: Keeneland Calling

Last weekend was fall bliss. Football, friends and a family trip to Huber’s where I ate my weight in fried biscuits and apple butter. This week I will be counting calories and the days until my trip to Lexington where I’ll be celebrating one of my bestest friends for her Bachelorette party. The centerpiece of the weekend festivities is a trip to Keeneland (where hopefully i’ll get to see @amclean5) and I am already having outfit anxiety about what to wear.

So to help get my styling creativity flowing and to support our local boutiques, I’ve scoured their facebook pages for some fun outfit ideas. Any additional help is welcome – I am seriously at a loss for what to wear.

I love both of these Camel colored looks. The dress is simple but can easily be jazzed up with some accessories – like a fun feathered fascinator headband. The bow on the pants makes me smile. Such a fun detail on an otherwise plain look. I’d wear some brightly colored, jewel tone heels to help punch it up a little. Or a similar color bow blouse.

p.s. – sorry I don’t know the brands here. if the girls at Clodhoppers can help fill in the deets that would be fab-u-lous.

Dress: Bell (Available at Blink) Image Source: Blink

This green plaid dress that I found on the Blink page screams Keeneland. I’d throw on my favorite Frye boots (and some brown tights if it’s chilly)  and tons of gold jewelry to make it fit the part.

Bag: Beracamy, Image Source: Circe

These multi-colored leather bags at Circe would be a bright addition to a fall get-up and would hold all of the Keeneland essentials – cash, race tickets, phone, lip gloss while still leaving a little room to sneak in a mini-bottle or two.  I’m digging the purple one as a way to add pop to most of my neutral outfits.

Finally, I would try to toughen up this sweet patterned dress from Ribbons & Rags with a blazer and some edgier jewelry. I love the print and that you could pair it with black or brown. I’m thinking I’d go with black tights and a blazer and throw some on some brightly colored jewels and a statement bag.
