Shop Local! The Made Market Louisville Holiday Market is Back!

Nov 27, 2018

My favorite Louisville pop-up shop – Made Market –  is back, just in time to help you find thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gifts for people you love. The Made Holiday Market is opening up for one day only at Mellwood Arts Center this Saturday, December 1st from 10 am – 5 pm.

Last time I went, I came home with the most gorgeous hand painted ornaments from Kate Jury, hand beaded earrings and a handful of other pretty little things. I can’t wait to go back this weekend to grab some goodies especially after getting a sneak peek at some of what we can expect this year. But before we get into that, here’s a little of what you can expect to find this weekend.

If you love shopping local and showing small businesses some love, this is the spot for you. I’m guessing this will be one of the biggest Made Market’s yet since it’s moving to Mellwood Arts Center, ensuring there’s lots of room for lots and lots of makers. Not just from Louisville but from around the region. In addition, there will be food and drinks from Quills Coffee, Naked Hummus, Monnik Beer, Steel City Pops, Elixir Kombucha and The Blue Crab.

Now onto the shopping. There’s way too many makers to list them all one by one, so head over and check out the full list here. Some highlights for me include Anchal Project, Dixie Reserve, Flourish & Frenzy, Oakridge Woodworking, Scarlett’s Bakery, This Little Peach and Wells Made Co. Plus local faves like Clayton & Crume, Milovala and The New Blak will all be there.

On to these particularly sweet gift ideas. First off, I am in love with these wooden toys from Oakridge Woodworking. The little giraffe or cars would make such a thoughtful nursery addition. You can see the detail in every piece. Speaking of little ones, these onesies from This Little Peach are insanely soft (I wish they made this floral romper in my size) and too freaking cute. The hooded onesies may be getting gifted to every little boy in my extended friend circle. Just checked out their etsy shop and they have robes too … so may be gifting (and getting) those too.

Grab something for the guys from Bawston Tucker. They have all kinds of shave and beard care products along with their solid cologne that smells incredible. I wanted to crack open this chocolate spread from Wells Made Co. but was able to hold off and wrap it up as a gift instead. Would make for a fun hostess gift. Something different than the standard bottle of wine or ornament.

My personal favorite may be this Koester tote though. I love that it stays open and sits flat on the floor. So many totes get all wonky and out of shape but this one is made from a stiffer fabric so it’s sturdy. Perfect for your friend that’s a regular at the Farmer’s Market. Their website has a bunch of different options and shapes. I’m partial to this navy weekender bag though. They’d look great monogrammed too.

Make plans this Saturday to swing by and do a little shopping. Would make for a great girl’s outing or just do like I do, and wander the aisles solo for a couple hours. This truly is a wonderful event and such a good way to get to know all the makers who bring so much character and life to our small business scene here in Louisville. Oh and if you know anyone in Grand Rapids, Michigan – they are hosting one there on December 8th. So make sure to give them a heads up too!

Hope to see some of you there!
