A Girl Can Dream – Beautiful Basics at Blink Boutique

Oct 3, 2011

This weekend was the first one where it actually felt like fall and I loved it. I spent the weekend watching the UK and UL games with friends (they’re not much fun to watch without a bunch of friends and beers) and participating in the Light the Night Walk downtown (Team Brooksource met their goal of raising $2,000 – woo woo!) but most importantly to all the lovely Lou What Wear readers – I spent the morning eyeing all the fabulous fall clothes at Blink Boutique.

Thankfully my pal Megan tagged along where I forced her into her first *modeling* gig. She looked amazing (despite her worrying about “what to do with my hands”) and the clothes were to die for. Honestly, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the Cynthia Vincent boots Megan tried on since. p.s. – They are the last pair – size 10. Attention fellow big foot gals – get down there and scoop these up. You will not regret it.

There were way too many thing that caught my eye to cram this all into one blog post, so I’ll be back tomorrow with some other items I spotted there. But today – it’s all about the outfits, so enjoy!

Bow Back Dress: Shoshanna

We got started with this adorable cocktail dress by Shoshanna. The bow detail on the back is ridiculously cute. This is the perfect dress for a fall/winter wedding. I can imagine it with black tights and platform black heels to dress it up even more. Megan seriously considered taking this twist on the LBD home with her.

Top & Sweater: Vince, Jeans: Hudson May Skinny Mid-Rise, Necklace: Summer Eliason

Next we went for a more casual fall look. I fell in love with this chunky knit sweater by Vince. So cozy but the knit detail on the back makes it stand out from your standard cardigan. The silky cobalt top was another great basic that can be dressed up or down. It would make a great option for going from work to a night out. Just throw a blazer over it with dress pants for work and then change into a pair of jeans with it for a night out.

Blouse: Rebecca Minkoff

Coat: Shoshanna, Denim: Paige Premium Hidden Hills Black Bootcut

We did a little mixing and matching here, first pairing a beautiful Rebecca Minkoff black and white lace top with a pair of Paige Premium black denim. I don’t always love black denim but the bootcut on this pair was really flattering and would look great with some gray booties. And just for fun, Megan threw on this Shoshanna Camel Coat which had amazing detailing. I love the big gold buttons and the collar. They carried a green version which was just as lovely. Both would be perfect for a chilly day at Keeneland.

Dress, Coat: Shoshanna, Boots: Cynthia Vincent, Necklace: Summer Eliason

Of course, I saved the best for last. I spotted this dress and knew that as a HUGE UK fan, Megan would love the color of this dress. Then Cara from Blink helped jazz it up with this beautiful coat and the aforementioned boots (you know you want them). After finishing off the look with a necklace, we all stood and gawked. If you don’t want this outfit, I don’t think we can be friends. We all decided this made an amazing Breeder’s Cup look (Cara may even wear it herself unless you beat her to it!).

What was your favorite look? I must say mine was the last one but it’s definitely hard to pick. I’ll be back with more favorites shots from my {window} shopping trip later this week. Until then, send in your favorite fall looks to danielle@louwhatwear.com

p.s. – I was not compensated for this post and all opinions are my own. But thanks to Blink for having us!

Ummm, ok I will take every single one of those pieces!!! The dresses are to die for, the tops are just beyond gorgeous, and the coats and sweater – ridiculous, I would wear them even when it's 110 degrees out!!

That coat is amazing! Not sure of the exact price (I emailed the owners to find out!) but I think it's somewhere in the $300 range. Definitely a splurge but a great basic you'll have forever!
