Beauty: It’s Time to Go!

Jul 31, 2013

When it comes to getting ready in the morning, every day presents a new challenge. Half of the time it’s the inner challenge of dragging myself out of bed. Once my feet finally hit the floor, I’m up and running but making that move is always a struggle.

Now that my little man is a force to be reckoned with, his a.m. demeanor, when testy, can really throw a wrench in things (clearly he inherited the “not a morning person” gene from me). Basically things start in a whirlwind and end with my nudging him out the door while repeating “It’s time to go!” ceaselessly.

In the midst of that whirlwind, I’ve still got to get it together (or at least try) to look semi-presentable at work. If I’ve pulled myself out of bed early enough or my little guy wakes up in a stellar mood, I’ve got time to do a little more with my hair and make-up but if that’s not the case (and more times than not, it’s not the case) I’ve come to rely on a few items to get me out the door without looking like a total train wreck.

time to go

* Vaseline Spray & Go The whole spray revolution (spray sunscreen – i love you so) has been a lifesaver for me. Especially since I hate being all sticky and greasy after putting on lotion. This is now the first thing I grab when I get out of the shower. Just give a quick spray and I can be sure that my legs won’t look super dry when I throw on a skirt. This Aloe one is my favorite because it smells fresh without being too perfume-y smelly. And my favorite thing about it is how quickly it dries without any of that greasy, sticky feeling. Also, when I’m spraying it on, I imagine myself getting ready like this girl and just wish it was that easy.

* Beauty – When it comes to my five minute beauty routine, I keep it simple. I’ve come to rely on a quick swipe of a eye makeup remover (cause no matter how well I was my face, there’s still a little mascara left), a bad-ass primer, my favorite mascara and some easy cheek color. When all else fails, these favorites never let me down.

* Hair – My hair is an entirely different story. If I don’t have the time to dedicate to it (and most of the time I don’t) it can end up looking like a big Gary Busey mess. This blow-dryer is seriously high powered so I can cut down on the drying time without frying my hair. Afterwards, I run this through my hair to keep the frizzies at bay and then throw it up in my signature pony-tail.

It’s nothing glamorous but it works for me. What are your morning mainstays? Anything you can’t do without?
