You’re probably thinking that the headline is a bit of hyperbole but I can promise you it is not. Seriously, pinkie promise.
There are very few beauty products that I am devoted to. If I try something and love it, I’ll stick with it for a while but 9 times out of 10, I’m willing to try the next best thing once that comes along. This policy applies to just about everything from shampoo & conditioner to make-up to skin care products. It seems that when it comes to my beauty loyalty, nothing is sacred. Except for this one exception.
Back in college (that is a long-ass time ago for those of you keeping score), I became OBSESSED with the Revlon Skinlights Illuminator lotion. There were four different types and they all produced the BEST sun-kissed glow you ever did see. I was devoted. Not only was I devoted, I became a brand ambassador telling every friend (or just random person) I could about how great this stuff was. For a couple years, it was on the shelves and then, just like that, it was gone.
Thankfully, I had stocked up so I was good for a little bit but then I discovered after one quick Google search that I wasn’t the only person devastated to find it pulled from shelves. Tubes of the product were (and still are) selling on eBay and other sites for up to $90 a tube. After a couple years of living without it’s perfectly illuminating glow, I found some in my friend Caroline’s apartment when visiting her in NYC. Since Caroline hardly ever wears make-up (lucky gal), she graciously handed over what was left. It will go down as one of the best gifts she ever gave me.
I’ve been using it very sparsely ever since (and yes, I know it’s probably “expired”) but I was getting down to the last drops when I stumbled upon the best discovery I’ve had in ages – a Revlon Skinlights display. The packaging looked different but after a closer look, it was clear the good stuff was back.
I promptly grabbed one in my two favorite shades – Pink Light and Bare Light – and did an internal happy dance. After using it again on Monday morning, I did an actual happy dance in front of my mirror before making a mental note to head to every drug store in town and buy as much of this stuff as possible before it disappears again.
You guys, this post is not sponsored. It’s not endorsed. This is me, writing a love note to my favorite beauty product of all time. And yes, I recognize how embarrassing that is but this stuff is too good not to share. So next time you’re at {insert your favorite drugstore here}, find this stuff and buy it. And if you don’t like it, just save it. You’ll be able to sell it on eBay for twice as much in a few months.
I’ve heard such great things about this product but could never find it in-store! I’m racing out to Walgreens after work to stock up. Do you apply this all over your face (mixed in with your foundation) or just to your cheek bones??
thanks for sharing!!!
Jen – It is THE BEST.
I have been known to mix it with my foundation when I’m trying to add a little glow. I also regularly just use it on cheek bones, brow bone and a little on my nose as a highlighter. Let me know what you thinK!
ohmygishhhhh, this is the best news ever! I am using an (absolutely expired) 4/5 year old tube right now from eBay, it’s the ONLY face product I’ve ever loved!
RIGHT!!??!! I’m glad I’m not the only one I know that stalked this product. It is the best. Go get you some friend!
I know how happy this makes you and it makes me so happy that you are reunited with your fave, product. ever.
xo,
Kelly
