Beauty: Ready & Out the Door in…

Jun 14, 2013

For me, the mornings can be a blur. Once my feet hit the floor it’s go go go trying to make it out the door looking presentable with all my stuff PLUS all my kiddo’s stuff. Let’s just say that remembering to lock the door can be a challenge at times.

So when Revlon asked me to put together a post revealing my beauty secret weapons, the first thing I thought of wasn’t a specific product but a routine I fall into when standing in front of my make-up.

p.s. – I do have this awesome make-up organizer that hangs on the back of my door (I think it’s supposed to hold jewelry or toiletries) that makes it a breeze getting ready. Everything is right in front of me which means no digging around and everything is categorized so finding things is super easy.

My routine is pretty standard when getting ready. Basically, I build from the foundation and add on products based on where I’m heading. Obviously work, a night out or a wedding requires a little more thought (and a few more products) but for most occasions I can make it out the door in five products or less (kind of like ‘Name that Tune’ but with make-up).  Here’s my go-to’s when heading out on the weekends.

It’s all about where I’m heading and in the summer I like to keep it light and easy. Definitely don’t want to look like you’ve got a thick layer of make-up on. So…

… if I’m heading to the gym I start with this Revlon BB Cream and then a light layer of their Nearly Naked Foundation. I love BB Creams but they don’t give me quite enough coverage so adding a thin layer of foundation (applied with a sponge) helps even things out. I especially like the Nearly Naked line because it doesn’t cover up your freckles and skin tone, it just makes you look like the best version of yourself.

Then I sweep a thin layer of bronzer on my cheeks and around my temples and chin. This routine also applies for a pool day. Just enough coverage to have you looking fresh but not overdone.

…If I’m heading out to run errands I do the same routine as above but add some voluminous mascara. There’s no way I’d want to have mascara running down my face at the gym or pool but when I need a more polished look, brushing on a couple layers of mascara is perfect.

… and if I’m heading to lunch with a friend I’ll add a little bit of lipstick. Nothing too heavy but in the summer it’s fun to throw on a sheer, bright pink. It adds some interest and fun to your look but again, nothing that’s too much.

Now here’s the fun part. I’d love to hear you all ‘name that tune’ when it comes to your beauty routine. Do you use a BB Cream? What’s your favorite new product and what’s your old faithful? Any favorite lipsticks? Share it below. As kind of a make-up dunce, I’d love to hear your tips & tricks.
