Oh hey Monday! Admittedly I’ve been dropping the ball on early week posts lately. I don’t know what it is but I can’t get on a schedule over here. But I’m here now and that’s what matters right.
First off, how much did you love Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl performance last night? Even Drew, who was only half paying attention at first, was loving it. And this may be a little bit out of left field but how amazing did her legs look? I think she may be giving Carrie Underwood a run for her money. Gaga – send me your secrets (as long as it doesn’t involve wearing a meat bikini or anything – that could get weird).
Any favorite commercials? The Justin Timberlake/Christopher Walken Bai one was my favorite by far. I refuse to talk about the game because I still can’t believe the Patriots came back like that. The only silver lining for me is it gives me hope that Tom Brady might retire. I realize that’s unlikely but I’m still holding on.
Okay so on to the outfit and the title of this post…
For the month of January I’ve largely avoided shopping in an attempt to save money and also do some major closet cleaning/purging (you know, we talked about that last week). So rather than throw together outfits centered on lots of new items, I thought I’d put together a handful of posts full of outfits that remix a few of my closet staples to give you some late winter outfit inspiration. We all know this is the doldrums when winter feels SO long and spring, while starting to pop up in stores, isn’t close enough. Instead of buying new stuff you won’t get to wear for longer than Puxatawny Phil says winter will last, save that cash for bright, new spring stuff and make the most of what’s lurking in your closet.
With all of these outfits, I’m guessing you have the staples to recreate them on your own. And if you do – take a pic and tag me (@louwhatwear)! It will inspire me to keep it going! Oh and at the end of this series, I’ll do a wrap-up post with all the staples in case you’re in need of adding a few basics to your rotation.
J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket
Who What Wear Polka Dot Top (same, just reversed)
The Fifth Blush Watch (available now!)
Old Navy Rockstar Jeans | J.Crew D’Orsay Flats (old, similar here)
I can’t say enough about this jacket. I love it. I wear it ALL THE TIME. I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it five times over. And it’s on sale right now… It’s seriously the best spring jacket too. Perfect over a light weight sweater or long sleeve tee. No lie, I had dinner with Grace from A Southern Drawl last week and she wore the burgundy one. When she showed up, the first thing she said was “I thought we might end up being twins in these.” Clearly she knows how much I love it.
Love your blouse!
