Spring {Break} in Blue

Mar 31, 2017

Fridays are my favorite.

I used to get all amped up for Fridays since it meant partying and hanging with friends, now I’m mostly excited for sleep. Lame? Oh for sure but either way, they are still the best.

This is an especially good one since we’re packing up and heading out on an impromptu spring break trip to the beach. Last year we promised D3 that we would take him on spring break so he could avoid a week off school spent in my office. Then, like the Grade A parents we are, we procrastinated to high hell before FINALLY booking a trip two days ago. Yup, two days ago. What can I say, I work best on a deadline.

So at the break of dawn on Sunday we’ll be hitting the road to South Carolina for a few days away. I’m excited for everything but the drive. If you have any good podcast recs or more importantly, good ways to distract kids on ridiculously long road trips, send them my way.

Seriously though, I think we could all use a spring break. Something about this time of year seems to be making everyone lose their minds. It’s like everyone is acting especially crazy. Maybe if we all just dropped our cares for a few days, things would be a little less out of control. Probably not, but it’s worth a try. On to the fit though…

J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket | Tibi Stripe Tank (similar)
Dagne Dover Ava Bucket Bag | Old Navy Stripe Heels
J.Crew Skinny Stretch Cargo Pants (on sale now)

No joke, I’ve worn this exact outfit at least once a week for the last three weeks. I love it. This jacket is clearly an old favorite but the others are new additions to the wardrobe arsenal. Despite its mild maternity vibes, this tank is the best. It’s fitted enough up top to look put together but the peplum keeps it casual and conveniently, helps camouflage any large lunches.

And last but not least, I am obsessed with these skinny cargos. When I bought them I was skeptical. Honestly, I thought I would return them after trying them on at home. Instead, I fell in love. They fit really great, are much more comfortable and light weight than denim, they hit at JUST the right spot on your ankle and they are well under $100. They run pretty true to size if you’re thinking about grabbing a pair (I highly recommend it).

  1. Enjoy your trip! My sister and her husband moved to Hilton Head last year and we’re thinking of making an impromptu visit next week… those kind of trips are the best. I just finished S-Town – there’s lots of cussing so maybe not the best when your kids are awake! But it’s so good.

      You should go Lindsay!

We just caught up on Up and Vanished so I think S-Town is up next! Thanks for the recommendation!
