Sorry for missing yesterday’s Derby Dress of the Day. My little girl has been home sick the last couple days and let’s just say that hanging with a tw0-year-old all is not great for productivity. She makes for a very cute but very distracting co-worker.
I’m going to go ahead and let you know in advance that today’s dress is one of the priciest ones I’ve featured but it was too gorgeous to let pass me by. It’s just motivated me to find some similar ones at a lower price point. I’ll keep you posted on that. To make up for it, I kept the accessories extremely affordable.
Isn’t this dress so fun? I love the color, the cut, the flowy skirt and the subtle print. It all makes for a pretty stand-out Derby dress. Yes, it’s a bit of splurge but you could easily wear this to a handful of other summer parties then go ahead and lend it to a friend. See I just justified that for you.
It’s a great ASOS find which is a good spot to hunt for dresses you won’t find anywhere else and will be sure to keep you from finding a dress twin at the track. They have tons of more reasonable options too. I’ve included a bunch below.
I decided on this one for the Finish Line Suites since it’s a swanky area of the track but you can easily wear this anywhere on the fancier side of things. On the accessories front, I am OBSESSED with these Steve Madden heels (they come in nude and black too). Don’t know what’s stopping me from taking the plunge and ordering them myself. The heel is what makes them perfect for the track. You’ll actually be able to walk around without worrying about tripping or your feet killing you. And this Reed Krakoff for Kohl’s bag is the perfect Derby bag. Big enough to fit all your necessities but small enough to make it through security. Plus it’s a crossbody. This one comes in a variety of colors too (love the blue and green) and is on sale today, so there’s that.
