Derby Dress of the Day: For the Jockey Club Suites

Mar 29, 2016

When I saw that Banana Republic was having a big sale today (40% off!!) I knew that I needed to go on the hunt for some Kentucky Derby dresses that you could scoop on serious sale. This black and white number immediately caught my eye and I must say that I’m considering making it mine to wear for summer weddings and parties.

What makes this printed number perfect for Derby is the sleek silhouette and simple color palette that will let your hat and accessories really pop. I’ve paired it with bright blue pumps and you can do a seriously fun hat or fascinator in a bright blue, pink, pastels or even red. How pretty would this Headcandi piece look with it?

Kentucky Derby Dress of the Day * What to Wear to the Jockey Club Suites

Dress: Banana Republic Geo Lace Strappy Dress (save 40% off today with code BRSPRING)
Pair it with: Rebecca Minkoff Micro Perry Satchel | Banana Republic Honey Fringe Sandal

When it comes to where to wear this, I’m thinking this would be perfect if you’re heading to the Jockey Club Suites (hence the heels). This section has an exclusive, somewhat country club atmosphere (hey – it’s even where Vineyard Vines is set up). This dress is a nice balance of modern and ladylike pretty.

Since you’ll have a seat and probably won’t be doing a ton of walking once you make it to the suite area, you can wear a fun heel. You’re still want a crossbody bag for when you are walking but you can manage to carry something a little bigger since you’ll have your own area to sit it down safely (and by safely, I mean on a carpeted floor and not the concrete of an outdoor box). If you get chilly easily or it’s a cool day, you may want to throw a wrap in your bag along with a pair of flats, you know, just in case.

This is a great see and be seen area so your hat will be key to making this look pop but if you nail it (and duh, you will) you’ll probably get your picture snapped.
