Derby Dress of the Day: Peachy Keen

May 1, 2014

I’m putting the finishing touches on this post and then it’s off to get ready for the Oaks!

We got a last minute invite earlier in the week and if it hadn’t included a climate controlled seat, this slow moving mama would have been out. But instead, I did some last minute dress ordering (going with this), called in a favor with the amazing Britni of Headcandi (she came through with this simple little lovely) and will spend the next couple hours doing my best to look track ready. I know it won’t be my all-time favorite Oaks look but I’m happy with how it came together at the last minute.

Speaking of last minute, today is {literally} the last day to finish up your Derby look. Yesterday I was in Clodhoppers and it was still full of great spring dresses (I was wishing I could fit into a few of them) and lots of hats. I’m sure the same story goes for other local boutiques, so don’t fret if you’re still hunting. Just give yourself a couple hours today to dedicate to the cause.

If you have time to run over to Dress & Dwell, try on this navy dress. It looked great on a few of the girls that tried it on but this look on Ann was my favorite way to style it up. Nothing overdone, just a sweet (that bow!), simple and chic dress topped off with a fabulous hat. This is another look you can attempt to recreate at the last minute. Take a fit & flare navy dress and call up a friend, family member or anyone else with a hat you can borrow. Pick a pretty color, add some extra embellishments (fire up the hot glue gun and run to Joanne’s for some fake florals) and you’re all set!

Don’t forget to send me your pictures from the track ( or tag me on instagram (@louwhatwear) – for the yearly wrap up. I know the killer looks come out today. Can’t wait to see what everyone wears.
