We’re in the Derby home stretch! Thunder is over and this weekend is opening weekend at the track. You guys, it’s really happening.
To be honest, I am a little unprepared for the whole thing. Drew ruptured and tore his Achilles Tendon last Monday so all of last week was spent running between doctor’s offices, kid’s sports practices and meetings. It was a lot. But on Friday, me and some girls went to the Cat & Nat Fun Show which was a great way to wash away all the stress from the week with some serious laughs. If they are coming to your city, I’d definitely grab a couple girl friends and go. We had a blast.
I totally meant to recap my event at Off Broadway Shoes last week but then Drew’s injury got in the way so, per usual, coming in a little late with the recap. It was a lot of fun hanging out with the Derby Festival Princesses along with Heather from Her Kentucky and Charlie Suzanne. I may or may not have left with another pair of sneakers (why danielle, why!?!) but thought about grabbing these Madden Girl Heels in another color since they are so comfortable. This pair goes with EVERYTHING and have been so clutch for Derby season. I’m sure they will be getting a lot of wear in the next two weeks.
So on to this outfit… I’d normally be a hard no on denim for anything Derby related but this shift had me rethinking that decision. First off, you can hardly tell it’s denim. But more importantly, it’s so flattering and hits at just the right spot where it’s not too short but not too long. It’s perfect for Thurby or if you’re going to the Paddock for Oaks or Derby, you could rock this with wedges, a cross body and a fun fascinator. If you’re on the hunt for dresses, Banana has 40% off right now so I linked a bunch of cute options below.
You may recognize this fascinator too – I flipped this Jill Courtemanche hatinator around to give it a different look. That may be against the millinery rules (sorry Jill!) but I thought it was just as pretty both ways. Plus you can get two wears for the price of one.
You are ready for the Derby! Great look!
