‘THIS… Is Louisville’ Anniversary Party

Jan 23, 2013

About a year ago, I did a post on a new magazine here in Louisville called ‘THIS… Is Louisville.’  The magazine tells the stories of Louisville entirely through images. Over the past year they’ve produced twelve issues filled with 62 photographic stories from 32 different photographers – from first time camera users to Pulitzer Prize winners. The stories are funny, interesting, sometimes sad and everything in between but all are unique to this city.

I was immediately taken with concept as a lover of black and white photography. Flipping through the images it reminded me of high school days where I’d spend every free minute in the dark room (also makes me consider the ins-and-outs of what it would take to set up a dark room in my basement…. but I digress).

I got a note a week or so ago from the creator of the magazine, Maggie Huber, with details on their one year anniversary party and had to share for the locals. I couldn’t be happier that her dream has become a flourishing reality and this party will be a great celebration of that. If you’re looking for something fun to do this Friday, here are all the details:

Join us Friday, January 25th, from 5:30-7:30 at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft for a Subscription Party Cocktail Reception. The museum is located at 715 W. Main St., Louisville, Ky., 40202. Tickets are $65 per person, or $80 per couple. For that you get 12 issues of THIS…is Louisville (a $50 value), your choice of an 8×10 limited edition print carefully selected from the magazine (a $25 value), cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment and more! RSVP at thisislouisvillemagazine.com

If you’re not in the area but want to check out more of what the magazine is all about, they’ve just launched a website where you can get lost in the gallery of images.

Here’s a few of my favorites…
