Can I get an AMEN for the weekend being almost here? This week has been madness and I’m ready to slow down a little bit in preparation for next week’s holiday. Thanksgiving weekend is always one of my favorites weekends of the year so I’m definitely counting down to that four day weekend.
But before then, we’re hoping to finally finish our bathroom remodel this weekend (and by we, I mean the awesome contractor who is doing all the hard work). I don’t share a lot of home stuff but I’m thinking there may need to be an exception made for this project.
Moving on… as this weekend gets closer and closer, I have to share some pictures from last weekend’s excitement at Churchill Downs. It was a very pleasant surprise to be asked to join the lovely Miranda from The Chic Street as a judge in their Fall Derby Fashion event at Downs After Dark.
The contest was held in the new Club 140, which is a very cool space especially for a chillier night, and was open to anyone who wanted to strut their stuff across the stage. The prize: two tickets to Derby 140 and the opportunity to walk the red carpet. The pressure was on as we took to the stage to take notes on our favorites. Let me just say that narrowing it down to five favorites was TOUGH.
The big winner.
In the end, we selected a great group that put a great fall spin on Derby and the winner was put together from head to toe. I was bummed that one of our favorites wasn’t there at the end since she was rocking a great fascinator.
Speaking of fascinators, Britni from HeadCandi designed a gorgeous and fun piece for me to pair with my outfit. I didn’t get a good shot of the look but hopefully you can see some of the details in the pictures below. I absolutely loved it and I need to get it back to her before I pack it away to use for Derby 140.
Thanks to Jeff, Michelle and Tricia at Churchill for inviting me to be a part of such a fun night.
p.s. – sorry for all the pink tinted pictures, it was the lighting on stage. u
Loved all the personality and fun that people brought to the contest.
First, I had a lot of fun and I am excited for future collaborations! Second, I am so glad that your photographer was better than mine (my husband), because I did not get many that were up close of us on stage! TGIF 😉

miranda
