What better way to put a wrap on a long and hectic week than with a little retail therapy? On Friday night, I rushed home from work, changed clothes and headed out to the Monkee’s of Louisville grand opening event. Southern gals may be familiar with the name since it’s a boutique franchise with locations in Lexington, Nashville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Charleston and more.
The Louisville store is right off Brownsboro Rd. right next to the old Doll’s Market (I think it’s a hardware store now). It’s in an old bank but you’d never know it because upon walking in, it was like a little piece of retail heaven – lots of open area to walk around without feeling cramped but tons of options everywhere you turned. And I wanted to cozy up in one of the plush chairs in the sitting area to browse the huge collection of jewels while waiting to trying on a new pair of Jack Rodgers or smoking slippers.
A quick look at the new Monkee’s of Louisville before I put down the camera and did some serious shopping. I did sneak a picture of Martha in her new Tom Ford sunglasses though – so jealous.
What I immediately noticed about the store was the range of price points that will appeal to a lot of different shoppers. There’s also a really nice range of options. It’s a store where you could go shopping with your mom and your little sister and all of you can find something you’ll love. And if you’re in the market for a new pair of sunglasses, they have a huge collection of Tom Ford, Tory Burch and Ray Ban options. I went with my friend Martha who splurged on a pair of Tom Ford’s to go with her new convertible (Can you say jealous?). It
One thing that makes the shop a little different than other local boutiques is their selection of shoes from Jack Rodgers for spring and summer to Frye boots for fall and winter and lots of options in between. I liked how the store had a little bit (actually more than just a little) of everything – lots of jewelry (including local favorites W&M Jewelry), tons of fall knits, bright color tops perfect for game day, jewel tone dresses, work basics, denim and shoes.
I’d been hunting for a tassel necklace for a while and found the perfect Loren Hope one (and now I’m obsessed with the entire Loren Hope line). I couldn’t resist adding it to my collection along with a slouchy gray sweater that will be making an appearance on her sooner rather than later. All in all a great night.
Pretty gals at the grand opening. Love the maxi with a slouchy chambray over top, simple chic in a printed tunic and Jack Rodgers, those green flares and the crop top are awesome and the perfect summer combo of a tank and black skirt.
I want this white dress. If I was a freshman in college, I’d be wanting to wear this on bid day (aka white dress day). Oh and I’ll take the necklace too thanks. But seriously, how pretty does Morgan look?
Speaking of tassel necklaces, how awesome is this blue one? I love the entire look. Bright dress & necklace + nude bow wedges. Preppy perfection. And this orange number looked amazing on Sarah and works for all seasons. I love it here with simple sandals and can imagine it with boots and a belt for fall. Love.
