Remember the ‘going out top?’ On that note, remember going out?
I remember having a whole closet full of ‘going out tops.’ Swapping them with friends endlessly, never wanting to wear the same one too often, even before every outfit was instagramed into perpetuity.
Obviously, going out tops aren’t at the top of my shopping list these days. Stripe tees, sneakers and denim always seem to make it there first, but when I spotted this mixed print top – I knew I’d stumbled on a solid party top. The print combo is really fun, the black and white base make it super versatile plus it’s light weight for now and thin enough for layering in fall.
While I still get out with some respectable level of frequency, I’m clearly not sporting tops to wear out to the bar very often. So I decided to share how I’m wearing it now and how to keep it rolling into fall since I’m guessing it will be making more appearances.
First up, is what I’ll probably be wearing to Bourbon & Beyond in September (p.s. – if you haven’t bought tickets yet, you can snag a three-day pass for $99 which is 50% off). These A.Golde denim shorts have been my best buy of the summer. They are a bit pricey but based on the fit, aka not too short or too tight, they’re worth it. I would suggest sizing up or a better fit though.
Second, is obviously the simple way to pair it with jeans and a colorful heel. It’s like the grown-up version of that college bar night outfit but without the fake ideas and chasing shots with orange soda (yes, that happened and yes, it was gross). One quick note on the jeans though and I plan to write a whole post on the brand but these Good American jeans are legit.
Those Kardashians know what they’re up to. I didn’t want to love these and after one wear, they’ve become the pair I reach to most often in my stack. I will say I wish I had sized down because they get a little stretched out after a few wears. But man, the fit is really slimming, especially in the thighs. Khloe is just out there trying to help us all out.
My friend Caitlin has them in black and she’s convinced me that I need a pair too which would make for another good option to pair with this top. Now I just need that night out invite.
