Did everyone wake up this morning, run outside and say thank you to Mother Nature for it finally feeling like fall? I didn’t but I’m hoping one of you did because she deserves a pat on the back for finally banishing the hot and humid temps that were waging war on my hair, skin and desire to wear sweaters.
It’s only in the last year or two that I’ve started wearing more pull-over sweaters. I have trouble finding ones that don’t make me look and feel bulky. I’m also a little more warm-blooded so anything that’s too heavy or that touches my neck makes me super hot and uncomfortable. Yes, I am high maintenance. That’s also why I own WAY too many blazers and light jackets, like this faux-leather one. I can ditch them easily when the heat starts to give me anxiety but they are also an A+ layering piece and the easiest way to make a t-shirt look polished.
Blazers and a suede jacket are more of my everyday looks but I love how this faux-leather one adds a little edge without going full-on biker girl. I mean, I do love a legit leather jacket but sometimes it’s too much of a look to commit to. Especially when you’re going to work. This one, while super warm, isn’t heavy or bulky and it fits SO well in the arms. That’s the biggest issue I have with a lot of jackets – too tight on the shoulders or arms. This one stretches a little so it’s not tight in the back/shoulders but fits snuggly (but not skin tight) on the arms. I wore it out this weekend to a concert in Asheville and now I want to wear it every day… thankfully the weather is cooperating to make it a possibility.
Since I know faux-leather can be a little tricky – mostly in that you don’t want it to look too fake and cheap – I’ve rounded up a few favorites including the Spanx leggings that everyone raves about. I finally bought a pair and can attest, they are that good.
Faux Leather Favorites
Dagne Dover Totes
I get a lot of questions about great work bags. Ones that can carry all your crap but look chic and polished. Dagne Dover bags are, hands down, the best. I’ve had this bag for almost three years and it still looks great. I also have it in blue, a smaller crossbody version and a pink bucket bag. I love them all, the quality is incredible and I get so many compliments on them. Plus, they are FULL of pockets and compartments for everything, including a special holder for your water bottle. You’d probably think they cost a fortune too but they are incredibly reasonable for the quality you’re getting. I don’t love bags with a lot of logos and designs so that’s what initially drew me to these but in the end, the functionality is what keeps me coming back.
