The minute I hear “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” on the radio, something within me stirs and I immediately want to start making cookies. It certainly doesn’t help my waistline but anyone who comes by my house tends to be pretty happy with the decision.
When I make cookies any other time of year, I almost always stick with my go to – Chocolate Chip Cookies. I consider myself somewhat of a chocolate chip cookie baking pro. I know my favorite recipe by heart and tend to have the ingredients on hand at all times (I make them a lot). But at the holidays, I try to branch out and try some different varieties. Even the ones that require hunting down random ingredients and looking like some sort of scavenger at your local Kroger. I know this is no cooking blog but I figure you all probably love a good cookie (or bar – couldn’t be too exclusive when it came to delicious sweet treats) as much as the next person, so why not round up some good ones.
So here’s 10 recipes to try when you’re holed up at home this holiday season.
From Top, Left to Right: Handle the Heat’s Peppermint Oreo Truffles | Vintage Revival’s Swig Sugar Cookies | Chew Out Loud’s Buttery Jam Thumbprint Cookies
Brown Eyed Baker’s Chocolate Crinkle Cookies | Chef-in-Training’s Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies | Mel’s Kitchen Cafe’s Brookies {Brownies + Chocolate Chip Cookies}
Brown Eyed Baker’s Salted Peanut Butter Cup Cookies | Mom on Timeout’s Key Lime Snowball Cookies
Thirty Handmade Day’s Oatmeal Raisin Cookies | Sally’s Baking Addiction’s Butter Pecan Cookies
So Brown Eyed Baker is my jam. I go to Michelle’s site whenever I am on the hunt for a delicious recipe. Seriously, I go there almost as often as I go to Epicurious or Bon Appetit to hunt for recipes. Girl is crazy talented and I wish I was her friend so I could go to her house and taste-test all her kitchen adventures. That’s why you’re getting two of her cookies to try. I’m most looking forward to trying out the Key Lime Snowball cookies – always fun to bring a taste of South Florida to Kentucky at Christmas time (when I’m definitely missing home the most). I’m also jazzed to try the Butter Pecan ones because just imagine those crumbled up over some Graeter’s Butter Pecan ice cream. Gah, this is making me hungry.
You ready to get your bake on? I’m thinking of planning out making these like the ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas movie schedule. So many cookies, not enough time.
[…] So basically it’s a day of all things that are good. That’s what the holidays are all about right? Hope you’re having just as fun of a Thursday (and if it’s not starting out that way, there’s still time to get your holiday on to turn it around – if all else fails, make cookies). […]
