Shopping: New Year’s Eve Ready – 16 Party Dresses to Ring in 2016

Dec 9, 2015

Okay, okay, okay, I know it’s not even Christmas yet but you’ve got to think a little about New Year’s right around now or else it will sneak up on you after you’re finished opening up all your gifts. For me, I’m either ALL IN on NYE or TOTALLY OUT- like sit in your sweat pants and fall asleep right after the bell drops.  Last year, we went all in and did it up big at the Tony & the Tanlines Concert at Mellwood Arts Center. It was so much fun that we are running it back again this year so I’m hunting down the perfect party dress now.

When it comes to hunting for something fun and sparkly, my first stop is usually Nasty Gal (this post ain’t sponsored). I may not do a lot of my day-to-day shopping there but they’ve got the market cornered on good party dresses that don’t cost a fortune. Last year, I bought this sparkly number (p.s. – if anyone wants to borrow it this NYE, it’s yours). This year, I’m thinking of going for something a little more subdued that I might be able to get use out of after the confetti has settled. Whether you’re going for subtle sexy, a little boho or all out sparkle city – I’ve rounded up 16 options to ring in 2016 in style.

Side note for Louisville friends, there are still some tickets left for the Mellwood Arts New Year’s Eve Party with Tony & the Tanlines + DJ K-Dogg. Last year they sold out right after Christmas, so you may want to snag them now. It’s $75 for a General Admission ticket that includes an open bar.

Row 3:  10 | 11 | 12    Row 4:  13 | 14 | 15 | 16

It’s definitely worth noting that you don’t have to be the size of a Nasty Gal model to pull off these looks – although wouldn’t that be nice. For those low-cut numbers, just snag some double sided tape to keep the gals in place for the night. I’ve also included some options that aren’t super short mini dresses, since I know we all don’t want to go that route just because it’s a party – this Stevie Nicks looking boho number is my top option.

Since there were a few stragglers I would have loved to included, here’s a couple more options. And in closing, if someone could get me that sparkly kimono (wear it with leather leggings, black tee and killer heels – yes please) – i’d be oh so grateful.

  1. Open bar + NYE is always a goooood/bad idea haha, for me at least.
