It seems like it’s been forever since I went to LA even though I got back a week ago. In between catching up and sharing some fun things I had planned, I didn’t have time to share pics of the fun times out west at the Lucky Fashion and Beauty Bloggers (Lucky FABB) conference.
Not going to lie, I was pretty nervous heading out there. I knew that some blog gals I knew would be there but when you go out solo there’s a little bit of those first day of school jitters. Thankfully those went out the window the first night I arrived when I met up with the equally amazing in person Bethany and Ashley. We wandered around an Aloxxi event (where they thankfully tamed my frizzy mane) and then went out for a delicious dinner.
Over the course of the next two days, I heard some inspiring speakers (Kelly Osbourne and Drew Barrymore were both equally adorable, engaging and interesting), listened to some panels full of accomplished business men and women and most importantly made a ton of new friends. Not to sound cheesy or corny but that was truly the best part of the conference. Getting to put names, faces and voices (seriously, it’s funny/weird hearing people actually talk for the first time after reading their blogs) together on some blogs I was big fans of as well as making new blog discoveries was a blast.
I left LA with a lot of great ideas on how to make Lou What Wear better for readers both old and new. The Derby Dress of the Day series idea came out of the post-conference brain storm (so hopefully you all are liking that).ย I’ll be looking for more ways to bring unique content and to stay true to what LWW is all about (while also trying new stuff).
I’d love to hear what you all would like to see more of in the comments. More Louisville-focused content? Style spotting? Outfit posts? Shopping features?
Here’s a little photo recap of my adventures at Lucky FABB…
Kelly Osbourne and Lucky Editor Brandon Holley
Loved hearing Kelly talk about how she responds/handles criticize, how she manages to stay true to herself and just listening to her curse in her amazing accent.
Getting day one started with Ashley (Sidesmile Style) and Bethany (The B Soup)
The hilarious, super friendly and intelligent Jesica Ryzenberg (Ryzenberg On) with Seattle blogger beauties Alix (Alix Rose) and Jess (Fresh Jess)
Fast friends: Ashley (Golden Divine), Amy (Amy’s Vintage Closet), Ashley (Sidesmile Style), Nikki (My Style Diaries), Bethany (The B Soup) and awkward little ole me.
I may have fallen a little bit in love with Drew Barrymore and her frank discussion on having to give some things she loves up in order to balance everything.
Laughed all day with Emily from The Stylist LA and Nikki from Bedazzles After Dark (who I was thrilled to finally get to hang out with!).
Had a bit of a girl crush on Lucky’s Lori Bergamotto. And I was mildly obsessed with this look. The stripes and the minty blue skirt was spring perfection.
The Curvy Fashionista’s Marie Denee who won a pitch contest and will cover NYFW for Lucky.
Winding down and letting loose with Alex (Stylelista Confessions), Alie Wilmes, Courtney Webb, Lauren (PR Blonde), Amberly (A Slice of Glam), Me and Nikki (My Style Diaries – who I seriously wish didn’t live on the opposite side of the country. Loved hanging with this gal).
Here’s a little more from Instagram … (some are courtesy of Bethany, Ashley and Nikki).
I’ll leave you guys with my favorite line from the conference courtesy of Who What Wear founder Hillary Kerr, “Comparison is the death of happiness.”

I think i’m going to go out and buy the NewpWhatWear domain right now. K?
No but really, can we hang (aka drink wine and judge) soon? I’m willing to meet you halfway.
Yay!! SO happy that we had some hangout time together. You are seriously the greatest and I’m so happy that I’ll be closer to you on the East Coast! ๐
