Favorite Things: Loving Lately

Mar 2, 2015

Mondays can sometimes be the worst. Thankfully today I’ve got a generously poured glass of wine and The Bachelor Women Tell All special to look forward to. Hey, it’s the little things in life. Speaking of little things, I thought I’d share some of the little things I’m loving lately. You know, share the love on this first Monday morning of March. (My favorite month of year!)

* Audible. Yes, I was one of the people who got suckered in to subscribing after listening to the Serial podcast (which was SO good – if you haven’t listened to it yet, do it NOW!) but I have not regretted it one bit. In the last year or so one of the biggest regrets (seems a little harsh but couldn’t think of a better word) is not reading more books. There are TONS of books I’ve wanted to read but finding the time to concentrate fully on a book has been nonexistent.

There is one time a day (well two) where I have time to myself – the drive to and from work – so I’ve been making the most of it this year by listening to audio books. I started with comedy books: Yes Please by Amy Poehler (very disappointing) and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling (loved it). After realizing that I could focus on something more serious I listened to The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (so addicting – the British accents alone had me mesmerized) and now I’m listening to Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.

Now I don’t mind sitting in traffic AS MUCH and I feel like I’m finally catching up on all those books I’ve been wanting to read.

* Orange Theory Fitness. I am fully obsessed with this one. I started going about six weeks ago to these group workouts and was addicted after one class. If you’ve never been or heard of it, they are one hour classes split into intervals of running (or biking/elliptical if you prefer), rowing and strength training all while wearing a heart rate monitor to track your intensity.

First off, the classes are awesome and go by really quickly. I’ve never gotten bored and I always leave feeling like I got an amazing workout. Second, the people are ridiculously nice which really helps when you’re trying out something new and mildly intimidating. I never felt out of place and every one knows your name so quick. I was amazed (and still am) at how nice and friendly every one is. Last, I love that it’s a little competitive – even if you’re just competing with yourself.

They’ve got a ton of classes and I’ve been going to the one at 6 am a couple times a week now. So obsessed. And no, I wasn’t paid to say this. I just love it that much.

* Shirts from Buy Me Brunch. Okay before this turns into a full resolution post, I’ll throw in some shopping for good measure. I bought the ‘Party on Wayne’ one for our trip to Mexico and got lots of thumbs up. Some of the shirts are R – Rated but the majority are just fun. Makes for something unexpected to wear under a black blazer or just to wear with jeans shorts to the pool.

*@Thug_the_Frenchie. I am a sucker for cute pets on Instagram and Thug the Frenchie is my latest love. He’s just so darn cute plus he lives in Miami. And looking at cute pups helps me from going out and getting a pup. Sorry one picture just wasn’t enough.

* This Dress. Okay so it’s going to be at least a few weeks before I can wear it (although I think it’ll work well with flat boots and a denim jacket) but I just bought this linen dress from Old Navy and I was beyond pleasantly surprised. So surprised that I felt like it needed to be included in the favorites. Not only is it really cute and very flattering but the quality is way nicer than you might expect. It runs a little big so if you decide to pretend it’s spring already and order it, I would size down.

There’s also a little girl version and although I would sooner die than do the mommy & me look (not hating, it’s just NOT me), I may have to order it for Reese to wear on days when mine is in the wash.

I’m so sad I wasn’t able to try Orange Therapy while I was in the ville. So glad you like it though! 🙂

LOVED Girl on a Train. If you find another book similar to that let me know!

If you’re ever back in the ville we can give it a go together!

Just tweeted at you about this but have you read Sharp Objects? I’m listening now and am addicted to it. Trying to find excuses to drive around so I can listen to it.
